Not many bins around Wembley either especially Wembley way. Only have themselves to blame if any mess.
Bob's measured response to an MP, or any other complainer, who placed all football fans into a category that some have earned but most have not was a perfect example of how to sort someone out intelligently and with dignity. Spot the gentleman! Lesson for anyone who wishes to take it. All credit to Bob and another example the club and supporters has set.
Fantastic response Bobgee. You put that pompous fool in his place with such eloquence. And yes, that's why there aren't bins anywhere you find crowds in London, train stations, tourist hot spots. Blame the IRA for that.
I wrote the piece, three pieces in all, at Salut! Sunderland (all here: http://salutsunderland.com/category/salut-commentary/ ) and also had a go at him on the ESPNFC Sunderland pages. As I have just posted at Ready to Go, I would have attacked any MP making such a stupid, ill-informed and insulting attack. I don't share Halfon's politics but that wasn't the issue. What I will say about him is that he did make the effort to get back to me and make what was a down-on-the-knees apology by any standards. To quote: âI will regret that tweet as long as I live. I have learned a lot over the past couple of days. First, to look at events in perspective. Second, not to use intemperate language. Third, to fess up and apologise when you get it wrong.â I didn't expect that he when he rang me, just a repeat of the same "I didn't mean to single out Sunderland fans" mantra. It doesn't make his tweet any less offensive and wrong but I give him credit for the unqualified apology he has now made. Someone posting a comment at Salut! said he should go further: "Appreciate his apology, particularly over the phone, but words are easy. Perhaps he could show his sincerity is real by making some sort of gesture towards the North East? Raise the profile of a NE charity maybe, or go and help out doing voluntary work for a day?" I hope Halfon sees that and will try to make sure he does, then see whether he acts on it
Just the typical Tory tossed getting his name in the press and sticking his size 9 in his mouth, how many people got arrested at something like Henley Regatta last year, I,m sure going to find out and ask this knob to post about that Litter bins are few and far between to reduce potential terrorism points
Checked it out, number ofarrests at Heley Regatta 2013, admittedly over 3 days and 20000 people. Henley local paper said " ONLY 26 ARRESTS, THAT,s ONLY 3MORE THAN YEAR BEFORE" emailed the knob and asked him to comment Probably say most were "High Jinks"
Entirely agree and so, belatedly, does he. What must raise eyebrows is that such an obnoxious phrase came so readily to an MP's lips (or fingers when tapping out his tweet)
