What have friendly old Fulham done to deserve such a pitiless fate? Now on their third manager of the season, will Fulham erect a statue of Felix Magath come May? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/ar...lham-deserve-pitiless-fate.html#ixzz2u8FOQFQP Not far from the mark really - Starting with "Fulhamish" and contrasting our current position. Patrick Collins reads this forum - Can't remember who was "The ability to mock one’s own and to find humour in shameful circumstances"? (I did Torquay comment). Although he does open with derogatory comment on Tosh. Anyhow, some nice old pics. COYW !!!
Hits the nail on the head. But what was the owner supposed to do. Accept our fate or throw the dice? Had we really progressed with RM? Perhaps if he'd stuck with his plan from the first 2 or 3 games he would still be here. Perhaps Wilkins and Curbishley muddied the waters and he wasnt strong enough to stick to his guns? One things for sure, Magath will not need back up, he knows what needs to be done, I hope!
Well, Hodgson was strict and demanded players fit into his system, and he was definitely Fulhamish. I think it's a bit harsh to question whether Magath has got more about him than a fierce personal trainer at a gym when his cv is littered with silverware. Whether he's a good fit for Fulham, and whether he's going to be able to keep us up remains to be seen; but to suggest that all he's got is the ability to drive people towards working harder seems very unfair. I don't think it's a bad appointment, but as others have said the timing was curious and unfortunate.
Always enjoy reading Patrick Barclay and think he's really a closet Fulham fan. Patrick has taken a bit of journalistic licence in this story though, since it's by no means the first time the Club have given short shrift to potentially good mangers and indeed in a rather insensitive way. Two in particular. Jimmy Hogan was sacked after less than six months while he was in hospital having his appendix taken out. And Bobby Robson, who lasted only a little longer and learned about his sacking in a newspaper headline. If anything the Fulhamish thing has been hanging on to the bad ones too long - Buckingham..Dicks..Jol.
In this constant managerial changes, should we not look at the psyche of Ali Mac who has overseen the choice of managers, and without doubt some of our dissaster forays in the transfer market. Read an interesting article about Southampton and their yuoth policy which basically said dont be afraid to blood youth as they are the financial future of any club with limited resources, "how true". ,
