The love affair continues between the posters ... haha we love it ey As all have said, 3-0 to this team isn't something to worry about. I just want our recent 'ok' form to continue. I am very frustrated we have not given the polish lad a chance, clearly he is up to it, just throw him in.
eddie, you were right. I shouldn't have given him an opportunity. I have, in this very thread, made criticisms of CP, by saying that it sounded like a tame performance and by agreeing with CAFC Ted's assessment of the things Powell got wrong today. As I explained above, I wasn't challenging Ted, rather asking him for an explanation of what he thought Powell got wrong. He answered, civilly, which I accepted. So when you say I can't handle any criticism of CP, you are in fact misrepresenting what I'm saying. This season has been a struggle for plenty of reasons, lots of them not Powell's fault. At times, Powell has made poor decisions which have not helped. But he has not done a poor job as Charlton manager, or else we wouldn't have won League 1 or finished 9th last year.
So you take back your accusation that I can't handle any criticism of him? Because I clearly can. I defend him taking into account all the factors that have led to our struggling. I criticise him where I think he has got it wrong. I don't make the leap, as you do, that getting some things wrong is enough reason to sack him, because in his time as Charlton manager he has done so many things right. I did not, before the season began (you can check this), think we were going to do much better than struggle, and that was without knowing that Yann would be sold. I think Powell can keep us up. And if he does, whilst that won't be massive success, it will not be failure either, given the financial situation of the club, injuries to one or 2 key players, players sold from under him and the uncertainties regarding the ownership of the club.
You are right, I apologise I still disagree 101 % with you though. He should have kept his dignity and quit when Yann (hat trick yesterday) was sold against his wishes.
What is all this 'I didn't expect anything from yesterday' and 'we need to forget this match and move on' nonsense? We were battered without so much as a whimper, yet it's okay to some because Barnsley and Doncaster were also thrashed. Pathetic attitude.
The so called Powell lovers get abused on here and in their eyes he can't do any wrong. The reverse is true those who want him out can't wait to slate him when we lose but never praise him when we win. We lose it's always his fault we win and we are lucky and Powell gets no credit it's lose lose .
Yeah, we should be hoping for wins, but against a team like Leicester I woudn't expect anything, especially at the King Prawn stadium or whatever it is. We were crap yes, I've said it a lot today and yesterday but the fact is, it is the only team in this division I don't think we could get anything off them in their current form. Give me Blackpool at the moment anyday, and if we didn't win I would be disgusted. It's simply the strength of this Leicester team that has made many of us go, "didn't expect anything out of it"
It's a pity that every game seems to be all about the manager. I feel he's helped to bring this state of affairs about , by taking the acclaim when we win at home games. Every time the Upper North starts calling for a tunnel jump I hope that one of the players will oblige, and this has been the case since Lord Powell became manager.
Agree totally. We were away at the best team in the league, Millwall were home to Brighton, and they're the team we have to catch. Also the other teams around us were playing easier teams than us. We lost no ground. Given that, it was not a bad day. I still believe survival or otherwise will be decided by our games at the Valley. When we're away, matching our fellow strugglers is enough... when we're home, we need to win.
Leicester aren't bayern Munich, but we aren't man city. I wasn't happy to lose, but sometimes you have to e realistic and see that a team in their form, with the money they spent - it was always going to be an uphill struggle. I'm sure the players weren't happy to be thrashed, they just aren't as good.
October maybe Ted. I'm sure there was a thread about sacking CP if we did'nt beat Millwall, or thereabouts.
seems like he's been calling for his head since he got the job. Not sure who it was but someone suggested Ian holloway for the job before he joined Millwall.. That's when I realised a lot of this is a wind up !
Mike I suggested we should get Uwe Rosler from the Bees six months ago. He doesn't do tunnel jumps or turn up to the opening of an envelope like CP, but his sides win games.
Again, semi quoting someone from last week suggesting that at the very least, if we lost to Leicester, it would'nt mean calling for a change of management. Some hope!
