The major difference as mentioned earlier is that Tan is owed in the region of £100,000,000 (or so the rumour over hear in Cardiff goes) by Cardiff City. None of it in equity. So he could take most of the £70,000,000 parachute payment and bugger off leaving CCFC in the deep s**t. SL has invested £30,000,000+ in equity so City sink and so does his money. I for one will stay with City but I am biased.
Yep and all this mess is the result of Lansdowns mismanagement overseeing a team that should at least be in the Championship. We are now hamstrung due to awful management/ownership Give me Tan and Premiership football any day, not some smug but clueless (football wise) empire builder who hides in the Channel Islands when the **** hits the fan.
Cardiff are the only team I hate with passion. They have spent money that they haven't got in order to be where they are, even when they couldn't afford it to stay up knocking others teams down the leagues. I hope that Tan leaves, Cardiff are ****ed, and hopefully their existence will no longer cease to exist.
Mr Tan is a smug but clueless (football wise) empire builder who thinks results are based on colour of a shirt! Cardiff are more hamstrung to the unpredictable Mr Tan than Bristol City are to Mr Lansdown.
Maybe, but they are in the Prem and we are on the verge of L2. You work out which you'd rather have because I will wager most of us would swap places with Cardiff right now. This weekend they are playing Tottenham and we are playing Gillingham !
Yesterday I spoke to a man dying of cancer. That man was the legend in fan circles Divvy Saunders, our lives have gone down different paths but we share a life long history. Our history and that of our families is following a club in red, a club that is called the Robins. It has never ever been just about results. My support of a habitually underperforming football club has been about more than a bag of air. A Vincent Tan at Ashton Gate would destroy my irrational attachment to BCFC. The Tans of this world should be looked upon as the enemy. A FC should be that, a club, not one mans ego.
Yessss we know, or some of us do clearly why we ride this torpedo marked BCFC and it isn't in the hope of City shirt being on the glory hunters rack in JJB sports. Put the team in blue, its only a colour ... Wurzel is better than that and we wouldn't go down on Tan like Wales did.
Very true. The football club of any city, town or village belongs to the people of that city, town or village. The major shareholder(s) may think they own it but it belongs to everyone who resides or were born there. They may have their name on all the shares but they do not own it. Those who turn up every week in fair or foul weather are the true owners and the money men who think it is their property are sadly mistaken. Whatever mistakes SL has made are not those of an egotistical nature like Mr Tan and while we may criticise SL for those mistakes, he, in my opinion, has made them in a genuine pursuit of success and growth for Bristol City FC and the supporters.
The main difference we have here is SL is a fan of the club, not like Tan the Merciless who as most will suspect will throw his toys out of the pram and leave Cardiff in the ****. Cardiff's best hope at the moment is someone see's them as a prem outfit with a shiny new stadium and buys the club of Tan. But will that happen or will another Portsmouth happen?
Then I guess it all comes back to what I pleaded for in 2009 - major investment in the best academy we can get. It served us well in 1971 and would do so again, and its the only way for a club like our who cannot compete with the big boys or even legally. Instead of all that money wasted on loans that did nothing for us we should have been designing our academy. Still at least we finally got our continental coach.
