I think he's had his time! Would have been good if we'd got him permanently last year, but when Newcastle started messing about with a 2nd loan spell, I think that finished Lambert's interest. Anyway, I believe Lennon wants him permanently, and they have more money than we do
The other argument for bringing in another keeper is that it would free Declan Rudd up for a loan deal (leaving Steer as a very capable third choice)! Rudd would walk into most League One teams. He is 20 now and if we don't give him a chance to play competitive football he isn't going to develop into the star that he could be...
I'd take Forster back to challenge Ruddy anyday of the week. He loved his time here and no doubt would again. Ruddy is a good 'keeper, he has his ups and downs but he I think he will prove himself next season. Every now and again his handling of the ball seems to dip but some of the saves he made for us last season were vital. I think he needs someone snapping at his heels though, I rate Rudd but he needs some experience as Lord Chancellor Rubik's says. He could also do with gaining a few pounds to give him more presence.
Have to agree about the need for greater competition. I think all pro's benefit from having real competition for a place. No disrespect to Rudd who I think will become a pretty good keeper (in fact, he already is), but he's very much in the support role at this stage, not really breathing down Ruddy's neck.
