Probably bull but thought I'd share.
He has been one of our star men this term so I'm not surprised the links are starting to surface.
I'd say it would take at least £15m to prise him away...

Manchester City are reportedly planning a surprise summer move for Cheick Tiote.

The Newcastle midfielder has been linked with Arsenal and Manchester United in the past, but has not been playing at his best over the past 18 months.

He has shown signs of rediscovering his top form in recent weeks, and the Daily Mail reports that he is now a target for City.

Manuel Pellegrini’s lack of quality in a defensive midfield position has been exposed in recent weeks when Fernandinho was injured.

The Chilean does not appear to rate Javi Garcia nor Jack Rodwell, while City can lack attacking thrust when Yaya Toure plays deeper.

The reports suggest that Toure’s Ivory Coast colleague Tiote is the man identified to bolster City’s ranks.

The 27-year-old moved to the Premier League from FC Twente in 2010 and the Magpies would demand a sizeable fee for him.

I'd go for a swap deal with Rodwell.

I'd hope we would get some cash plus Rodders.

Or Rodwell if he can sneak Silva and Aguerro into his luggage without Pellegrini noticing?

Personally I think that with the tactics we play under Pardew Silva would look out of his depth! Pretty much in the same way as Marveaux and HBA are!

Be a shame to see him go after this seasons form but Mike would relish it and I think Cheik would too. Rodwell is canny but never fit. Not sure they have any cast offs to offer us. Then again, beggars can't be choosers can they <laugh>

That's because those two ares ****e <ok> Good players like Anita, Cabaye or Remy seem to flourish under Pardew and his tactics.

Richards maybe? doesn't seem to get a game there

Tiote for Richards, Guidetti, Rodwell on season long loan with citeh paying wages, plus a bit of cash if Ashley is playing hardball? could be good business

Good call we'll probably need Micah when Debuchy heads to Arsenal.
