    Krul cull could be costly.

    The possibility of Newcastle losing their first-choice goalkeeper at the end of the season arguably moved a step closer on Friday, when Tim Krul was excluded by Dutch coach Louis Van Gaal from his latest selection.

    Van Gaal had told reporters that next week's friendly against France in Paris represented a final chance for players to force their way into contention for a place in his squad for this summer's World Cup Finals.

    And while the exclusion of Vurnon Anita and Luuk De Jong was expected, Krul's failure to be selected as one of the three goalkeepers looks like ending his hopes of a trip to Brazil - unless one of that trio were to suffer an injury.

    Having expressed his desire to experience Champions League football in a recent interview, the prospect of seeing his international career stall would seem to be another reason for the 25 year-old to seek a transfer.

    I'll be sorry to see Krul go but the guys got to do what's best for his career.

    But surely he gets far more worthwhile goalkeeping practice and experience trying to keep our goal than some club with an impenetrable defence who are top of their league.

    Surprised by .com's sensationalist and unnecessarily negative reporting. I don't think this really has anything to do with lack of exposure, but more to do with the fact that LvG just doesn't rate him.

    I've often wondered what it is about Man Utd which makes them seem to be the only team capable of churning out groups of players like the Busby babes and the Fergie fledgelings.
    They seem to simply have the knack.

    Krul's 'performance' against Tottenham, would have been enough to put Van Gaal off. Obviously that's one game, but it really emphasised Krul's shortcomings.

    Krul is certainly not the finished article. As seen with Hart, some things in football never change. Goalkeepers reach their peak at 30 plus.
