Following the fortunes, or lack of, of the English clubs in the Champions League is the PL that far behind the German and Spanish leagues? Or do we have more depth?
England has the best league because anyone can beat anyone on there day. the second best team in germany is leverkusen & Man united beat them home & away so easy it was a joke.
That's bollocks, Dortmund are easily the second best team in Germany, they had serious injury problems and no defence for half a season, hence Bayer WERE clear. Leverkusen lack pace and a plan B and as such will struggle in Europe for a couple of years, but the United result was a freak result. Bayern are better than any of our top 6, only City are better than a fully fit Dortmund. In Spain, Barca & Madrid are both stronger than our top sides, indeed, Barca's win at City made this abundantly clear, furthermore, Bilbao & Atletico are at the very least extremely competitive with our 3rd to 6th clubs. Now, is our league the most competitive? Yes. By much? No. In Germany, only Bayern are unbeatable, but then, they would be in ANY league, bar the very top teams. There are elements of each of the 3 top leagues that are stronger, but the really top teams are no longer ours, and where as a few years back a game against say Schalke or Bilbao would have been a strong English fancy, now we would struggle over 2 legs. In terms of overall quality, not just flair players, but good solid players, Germany walks it for me, many English & LFP players are very, very poor in reality, whereas the Bundesliga the teams are solid, with 3 or 4 touches of class dividing the sides, bar Bayern & Dortmund. The argument that anyone can win on the day is long gone, as this applies to ALL of the top leagues, excluding an almost flawless Bayern side.
At this moment in time Leverkusen are second & most teams get injuries tho. didn't Leverkusen beat Dortmund? The Arsenal v Bayern match I thought Arsenal was miles the better team before Szczesny got sent off. I just think people have went over the top because the English teams have got beat. Watch loads of german footy this season & it's been ****. it's all about opinions tho.
Agree with all you say Gonads. Would you say though that the Premier League is the most enjoyable/exciting to watch?
I'd say it's pretty even with the Bundesliga, and this season Serie A, but yeah, overall, I still think so. The Bundesliga is very similar in that a lot of sides use 4-5-1 and play a lot of triangles, I'd say overall we just about shade it, but it's a close call. Seie A lacks the quality of a few years back, but that has brought the league out of it's shell, gone are the defensive Milan & Juve sides that dominated, Juve now have an incredible offensive side that constantly looks to shoot, Napoli are fantastic to watch, again, all about the attacking 5 and raining in crosses and shots, and Fiorentina at times are stunning to watch, albeit that defensively they are appalling. If you haven't watched any for a while I urge you to look at Serie A, especially when those 3, and an excellent if predictable Roma are playing, forget what we used to see on Channel 4, this is a great league to watch now. Final comment though, THE league for pure entertainment is the gung-ho, **** defense Argentinian Primera, they literally take the piss, end to end every game, but of course, not close to the quality individually of the top European leagues.
loads of team get injuries, yeah, how many lose their entire defense, and 2 of their main midfield all within 3 weeks for long term? Dortmund lost a lot of games in that period, no way on gods earth are Bayer a better side.
Player for player Dortmund is better but in my opinion Dortmund aren't as good as last season. the German league is just a one team league pal. it be even worst next season to.
They are weaker than last season, no question about that, but we are talking about overall leagues here, not just the top clubs. Comm, Only be about 30 grand import tax man
325i, 58 plate, 26k, silver black half leather, manual, which is a rarity! Nobody wants it cos it's petrol, which is also why I'm selling, to get a 330d.
I just don't rate the German league pal. I do rate the german model tho. cheap tickets & all the that.
Fair do mate, be ****e if we all agreed Just for resale mate, really. I do barely any miles now, but I find the motor loses quickly as it's petrol, diesels are just as powerful now, more powerful in some cases, still, you lose that nice sound but **** it. I spent 16k on that car man and i'll be lucky to see 9k back, in a year, if it was a 330d, it'd still be worth 12.5k or more.
