Was talking to my reporter mate yesterday. He suggested we were missing a trick by not having high-profile new contract talks with Brendan Rodgers, particularly as we're now getting close to that fat bitch with the loud voice. I can see his point. Rodgers has been doing a great job and new contract talks would be a major motivating factor for the squad. So what do you think? Should we be giving Bren a new contact now?
He deserves a nice bonus but I don't see the point in doing it now and making an issue of it Do it if we are guaranteed CL football not now we're heading into fixtures with pressure already on
maybe be good to get the idea out now so players know the club have faith in him going forward. not sure about giving him one now, but def the thought out there of one being done, maybe signed in the summer. but then as you say could have a positive impact on the players. i don't ****ing know lol
Never agree with contracts being signed for managers during a season - lets get to the end of it and if we do get 4th or better then it would be the least he deserves.
for me the question is; are utd going to try poach him... no. are chavski, are Citeh.. are the gooners? the answer in ALL cases is no so rodgers is going no place ergo see whats delivered, not looks good so far. I mean come on unless some mad arab is going to poach him for PSG or something totally crazy the lads hit the biggest club he's going to go to and from here on in he's ours until something like chavksi opens up (in 2 years)
Summers fine. He's not worried according to an interview. Jobs not finished and even if he doesn't have professional pride (I think he does) moving to another club without tin would leave him exposed to the sort of pressure Moyes is under if things don't go well right from the start. Why put yourself through that again when possible glory and rewards for hard work might just be showing here? Only clubs he would see as a step up are ones in established CL spots. Honestly think he'd have more of an ego that he stays and does with Liverpool what Fergie did with United, built from ground up rather than more accusations like Swansea that he took credit for others work. (Not true) Rubber stamp it in the summer, I'd have said at Christmas whether we get CL or not because I liked the progress made but from this position if we don't make CL I'd worry what the hell happened!!!
If United tried it would be extremely ballsy, especially if say, they signed him up now and we end up missing out on CL. I understand football is a greedy sport but I honestly cannot imagine Rodgers leaving us for them just as his project is starting to bear fruit - it would do nothing for his reputation. If he stays with us, we make the CL and then make the knock out stages & finish 4th again next season - he will have an international reputation - the guy who took over post H&G and lead them back in to the champions league. Going to Manchester United would almost be a step backwards as he would have to re-inroduce his ways to the players and then look to cut the wage bill and do the rest of the hard stuff all over again. I could see him leaving us for City or Arsenal before Manchester United
I think it would be wise for Liverpool to wait until that fat bitch uses that loud voice of hers before anything is offered. Wouldn't want us to do like Newcastle with Alan Pardew.
I look around and see many managers at clubs of greater wealth make bigger mistakes than Rodgers on a weekly basis. And provide the team with a similar upside on the good days. If I was an Arse or City supporter, or even Chelsea, (can't bring my imagination as far being a ManU supporter, sorry) - I'd be quite incensed with a significant number of Pellegrini's, Wenger's or Mourinho's tactical or market decisions. It's a hard job. Few get it right. Rodgers gets it right more often than most. So, if a decision was required now, (which it isn't), I'd say sign him up.
Maybe his current contract includes a increase should he get CL football. I wouldn't negotiate until the summer anyway. Let him concentrate on the campaign
