SB is a fan. Given that managers often sign players that score/play well against their teams it wouldn't surprise me if he's a target
in the summer. He'll be able to play PL no question.

Would we need him? Would he come here to benchwarm?

If we stay up then we'd need to strengthen the squad, including strikers.

I think he could offer us something and he wouldn't cost a fortune.

They paid a couple of million for him and he's got three seasons left on his contract after this one, I think he'd cost a lot and I don't expect us to shell out any significant money on a striker for next season.

We were linked with him in Jan. Poyet wanted him apparently but they priced us out of a move so we moved for Scocco instead. Just paper talk of course. Looks decent doesn't he?

Always impressed me he has, but we won't go for him. We already have a decent strike force with plenty of depth, and as OLM says he'd cost a package that would be far better spent elsewhere. Defence and midfield need during up now.

Was thinking that myself to be honest. Wouldn't surprise me and would be quite happy to get him. Would be depth, but that's what we need if we want to start entertaining the possibility of Europe down the track.

I like him, he would be a good PL player, do we need him, probably not. That said we do need to continue to strengthen of course. Lets start with Livermore. As any sensible club should do we need to add extra depth to keep all areas covered in anticipation of injuries, suspensions, for not only the league but cup games (even Europe, perhaps). As ever we will do this by releasing some as well. We have genuine depth and quality already so some sensible additions although not many would add that bit extra. Lets not forget we also have a bright prospect in Conor Henderson (yet another Irish lad) waiting in the wings.

What I would like to see more of is investment in a better academy future, giving us more long term stability and etablishing us as a top team for years to come.

We don't want to be in Europe though, do we?

Unless you've got your mind on the champions league...?

I honestly think that's the way. We have such a large catchment area as the only PL club for miles, we need to take full advantage of that.

I said down the track, not next year. I wouldn't mind making Europa in our third season a la Swansea, and when we win the whole thing, CL is ours. ;)

Gus Poyet wanted him in January. But Brighton would not sell him at that time as he was injured.

He would be a good signing as his movement in the box is very sharp. Plus he is the only player to have scored against us in 4 FA cup games.

It would be no surprise for SB to want more options so that we can attack both cups again without taking anything away from our PL season. Plus if we do get into europe then we need extra bodies. Ulloa is in the top 5 championship strikers for sure.

I would also ask Chelsea if we can have Patrick Bamford on a full season's loan at least.

If Sunderland stay up I'd expect Gus to sign him, with Long, Jelavic, Sagbo & Aluko guaranteed for next season i'd like to see us strengthen elsewhere.

If Bruce does want another attacking player then Tom Ince might be tempted to join after his palace loans deal finishes and he's a free agent, we know he might have signed for us if Sunderland didn't dick around with cancelling the Graham loan until last minute.
