so far we have (including Ba and Taylor) spent £1m.

we have bought Cabaye for 4.5m
then we sold Nolan for ...... 4.5m - straight swap deal (put not a bad one)

we are close to signing Ba - on a free
and close to signing another Taylor - for 1m

    best leaving for 4m?
    barton leaving for the same?
    smith going for free?

    where is this 35m

i know its early and the transfer window has only just begun but rumours of N'zog, That Turkish chap and other big money deal have died down.

at this rate we will have less players than last season

we have the money in cash so what is holding up these deals, wages?

somethings not right at newcastle - as usuel

Think positive dude. Its only the very start of the transfer window. We've already got one decent signing in the bag. Alot of teams havent even made a signing yet. All will be fine

Just because we're not spending the money yet doesn't meen we haven't been productive
I'm pretty happy with what we've done so far and we may be closing in on Barnetta aswell. It'll all look more positive if that comes off relativly soon

We're only 4 days into the transfer window, I get the feeling they're getting their ducks in a row. If Ba signs today we'll have signed 3 players already, not bad for the first few days. A lot of players are still on hols etc it's not going to happen overnight.

Two months left of the transfer window.

I feel you are suffering from premature anticipation.

I do the same thing on FM. Clear out before buying. Works for me. Does it work in real life?

It's not bad, but when you consider that our top 3 performers from last season are all out or on their way out, I'm finding it a bizarrely high risk strategy.

    To say the least.

Rumours have died down...and? We don't sign everyone that we're rumoured with! If you want to base your happiness of 4 days! of the transfer window on rumours then you're going to be disappointed, as well as any other football fan in the country doing the same

This. And its not just players on holiday but managers and owners too. There is a long way to go yet in this window and we really shouldn't be letting every little bit of movement cause such a fuss.

Yes we are being decisive about those we ship out but we have also been very active in seeking replacements and have already signed a potential gem. Missed out on a few I grant you but we are still linked with some big names and I am sure there are more of their ilk to go for should any of those fail as well. Keep the faith guys!

Same here haha. Love a good clear out when I start a new game. Get rid of loads of backroomstaff aswell, and I tend to take them with me too when i sign for new clubs. Got have some sort of realism.

One of the more ridiculous threads I have seen ! there is nothing to suggest we won't sign 3/4 players all around the 7-10 million mark each, meaning we easily spend the full £35 Mill when taking into account wages - Erdinc, Nzogbia, Barnetta, Matuidi.... decent chance of getting 1 or 2 of these boys, plus who know what G Carr will find at the U21's

    Keep the Faith .

I'm sure that I'm not the only one but in all honesty I don't care one jot whether we spend £1 or £35 million. I am more concerned about the quality of the players coming in rather than being obsessed about their value/fee.

Provided we bring in the right number of players at the right quality then I for one will be more than happy if that is achieved by spending £5 million even if Cashley pockets the rest of the £35 million received for Judas and spends none of our "original" budget for this transfer window i.e the money we were going to spend even before Judas was sold.

Yeah but Enrique was always going to go anyway. Barton has shot himself in the foot with twitter rants & slagging off the board and MA in public appearances. And Kevin Nolan wanted a silly deal, £50k a week til he's the age of 35?, better off making some money off him and bringing in a younger, faster, fitter player.

It's a complete and utter disgrace that we haven't spent at least £20m so far. How dare Ashley not pay over the odds on these transfers which naturally happen quicker because of bypassing the selling club due to release clauses! We should have paid at least £15m for Cabaye, and should pay £6m for Ba, maybe we still can pay money for Ba to make things right...

True, but it's more the club's new mantra which is concerning. Ashley continues to make massive profits from us in the transfer windows, it's only a matter of time before it all blows up in his face again.

You've only signed Cabaye, whilst we're signing Ping Pong Wong, or whatever his name is, and obviously you're worried. Quite rightly, too. However, there is still time, so panic not. You'll have a squad in time for the derby on 20th August...
