Light training with plenty of rest i would imagine...There will be plenty of video watching of Napoli's home games also to get up to date what to expect...
Anyone else just watch the highlights on Match of the Liverpool? Tuned in just to hear what they would say... And they didn't disappoint! What Liverpool did good was down to Liverpool, what Swansea did good was down to Liverpool. In fact, they provided almost no analysis at all for the Swans. It was obvious our team was a distraction that could be ignored.
At least they seemed to accept the free kick and penalty - which Brendan claimed were poor decisions. If teams get the win managers usually say very little about ref decisions.
Just watched it and thought they were hyping us up too much. However they are right - Liverpool have made an incredible amount of individual errors this season. Think it's the most in the league. Of course, the other side has to take advantage of that error (unless it's an OG), and fair play to Bony x2 today for burying the chances Skrtel gave him. Not the biggest fan of Skrtel due to his wobbly days (like today) when his 'tough as nails' approach seems more careless than courageous. However... found the 'foul' for the freekick very debatable. No idea what Skrtel is doing, but surely even he wouldn't rake Shelvey's leg on purpose? Really bizarre... I guess only Skrtel knows. Noticed Shelvey didn't seem to even notice. Of course we should've defended the freekick better but it's still a relevant debate. The penalty was very soft... victim of his reputation I think. He's gotten away with too many fouls in the box this season so referees will be looking for it. Flipside is that he should've marked his man properly. At any rate... cracking game. We scored three great goals. You scored a great goal. Two bizarre fouls(?!) as well. Like the sound of Monk by the way. There's not a whole lot in the
You seem surprised , usual narrow minded view which was to be expected .Not what we did or even a balanced view but just how good they were .
Was always the players...not their fault, trying their best and performing admirably. Why did we lose today? Poor defensive errors...not having a go at them we're getting our money's worth and the team played well, but them's the facts. A bit like when we gave Man City a good chasing actually...at the end of the day we are playing against clubs who can afford superior talent/performance and the amount of points we will most likely get this month is the same as most would have predicted pre-Monk. Similarly to the Monk/Laudrup perceptions of the Swans most in the country would claim that Everton are performing better under Martinez...when in fact they are on course to finish exactly where they finished under Moyes. As Pardew pointed out he's getting **** for being only 5 points behind Martinez' media darlings.
Proud of the team today. Silly errors at the back and Liverpool's prowess cost us, but at least we fought back. Most teams would've rolled over at 2-0 down at Anfield.
What a difference under new Management, like chalk and cheese! Really pleased for our lads, still early days under the new fitness system of Garry Monk, things can only get better, the spirit within the camp is up a 100 fold, we now look as if we are back on track to our best, bring on Napoli in Monk we trust!................ please log in to view this image
We played ok today , Liverpool played less than ok but got the win . Bit worried about bringing some players back from injury early . A couple of games now when Shelvey has come back from injury and taken out early , let him sit till totally healthy . Thought Dyer was hurt last game and he started today. Don't think Britton or Chico will be in contention for Napoli because of knocks this game . All hands on deck for Palace and West Brum , our season is on the line in these two games
If you think the players' fitness has dramatically improved in a fortnight, due to new training methods, you really are an ignoramus. What we are seeing is the benefit of players returning from injury who are a bit fresher due to less games this season. We are also seeing the benefit of Laudrup's long term plan this season...resting Bony and rotating Leon and Canas for example....and coming off the back of 6 weeks where we didn't have to play 2 games a week every week. ....but then maybe you're right and maybe Monk needs to get in to flogging fitness videos on infomercials. He's obviously come up with something very special indeed ...and maybe he needs to get into speech writing too. His words alone have obviously electrified the players. Dear, dear.
I think that if we had played this game with Laudrup in charge heads would of dropped after we went 2 nil down and we would be looking at a 5 -0 drubbing right now. That's my Opinion based on what has happened to our team since the end of February last year.
Like the Man City game in January? We create chances, our finishing let's us down, we go behind to the most in form and expensively assembled team in the Prem. Did we capitulate? No we equalised. They up the ante and score...we attack "going for it" fail to score and then Kolarov is allowed to run unchallenged and score. Score 3-1...did we capitulate? Did we ****. We pour forward and eventually Bony scores. 3-2. We throw the kitchen sink at them and they have a nervous finish to the game but ultimately they are just too good and the game ends with a loss. The press report a spirited, impressive Swansea performance. Same old. Collective amnesia seems to have set in.
The only time we got a drubbing under Laudrup was when he put the reserves out at Anfield. Funnily enough when Monk put the reserves out at Everton we shipped 3 goals and we lost 3-1. How do you think that team would have got on at Anfield yesterday?
I disagree here Terror. We are looking faster, fitter, stronger and our passing is faster, sharper, crisper and with more purpose, not to mention that our wingers are stretching sides by running at pace down the flanks looking to create chances in the box. Hell even Bony is looking much fitter and faster.
Difference is Terror after one good performance we then were crap for 3-4 games. Since Laudrup has gone, our performances have been great each game and Monks fixtures are as hard as anything Laudrup had in the last couple of weeks of his tenure.
