Home form will keep us up. For all the lows of the last six months or so, we have always looked strong at home. Even the Fulham game we were unlucky. That was a magnificent performance. I can't really think of anyone who had a bad game. Bassong for that one mistake? No. He was generally heroic and that didn't cost us.
I am chuffed so much that I can't think of anything to say, there was one bad air kick from Tettey but our midfield, defenders and van Wolfswinkel all put in 100%. Great performance, great result. OTBC!
And Tettey. What a difference his return has made to our general play. That was some of the nicest football we've played in a while. Admittedly it wasn't particularly sharp or fluid, but we were up against a top five team so we can't have it all
I was frustrated by how much possession we let them have, but I guess it must be even more frustrating for them. Great result and really pleased for Hoots. This gives me much more hope for the rest of the season.
Home wins against Stoke, Sunderland and WBA = 37 points and safety. And we've got chances for draws or more against Villa, Southampton, Fulham and Swansea. Huge result today, it's done us no end of good. Hopefully we can build on this and go unbeaten for a few games.
For all the criticism, hughton really pulls it out of the bag when he needs to Today, hull, west ham spring to mind
Have to say you's were excellent today, Yous could have scored alot more then 1! (Not a bad free-kick that smashed the bar aswell!) Redmond looks a bit raw but there's alot of potential there! I believe you have more then enough talent to stay clear of relegation, Good luck with the rest of the season!
Well done to the Toon as well for beating Lambert and taking the smug grin off his face. I still cannot believe the big big club Villa want to offer him a new contract but that is their problem.
I am not a fan of Snodgrass but that was a terrific finish, absolutely deserved victory today..OTBC Again
Got to say we played some goof stuff today, a second goal would have saved a few chewed fingers but another clean sheet. Have to hand it to Hughton when he needs a result he seems to always manage one. More lives than a ****in cat that bloke!!
When the chips are down you kind of expect a good hand, it`s just the bad-beats that have cost us away from home especially...
aye well done deserved the win .. could of been more.. had a fiver on Snodgrass for first ( git up ) at 10 s and tenner on remy for first .. a good sunday
We had 30 points after 27 games last season and had to play Man Utd, Man City, Everton and Arsenal in the last dozen games. IF we play like this from now on can see draws at home to Arsenal and Liverpool in the well publicised final four games. Will tempt fate and predict Villa away - draw, Stoke at home - win, Southampton away - defeat, Sunderland at home - win, Swansea away - draw.
Yes, Chris Nine Lives Hughton. Snodgrass played a blinder today - I'm usually a bit of a disliker of his tendency to collapse when the wind blows against his 'flow', but today he was excellent. When he moans I moan. Thought Johnson was trying to dislodge the crossbar or at least create the best "What happened next" for Question of Sport. 10 hospitalised in row F...crossbar to blame. Really enjoyed our fight today. Good game. Well set up Chris.
A brilliantly committed performance by every player on the pitch! We made Spurs look very ordinary, which is even more impressive if you think how one sided the match at WHL was! The real issue now is carrying that type of performance into the next few games. Our issue has been the lack of consistency in results. It seems every time we turn a corner and are on the up we find a way to shoot ourselves in the foot. I think we'll beat Villa next week and that will put us right on the cusp of safety. Then it's just a matter of picking up maybe 5 or 6 points over the last 10 games, which I think is very, very doable!
I think people have been unfair on Hughton.we have been out of the bottom three since October and although firmly in it so have been half the division.
I don't know if anyone looks at #3upfront on Mustard TV, but mine would now be "precious, priceless points" The league table looks so much better than it did at 15.59 this afternoon.
