Whoever made the decision to appoint Peter Taylor the interim manager should take full responsibilty when we are relegated. 17 defeats is awful to say the least, 12 defeats have been had since T aylors arrival. He almost relegated Bradford city is is simply dreadful and we will pay the ultimate price come may. My patience is wearing very very thin with this club now.
lol - I know i can write some stuff, I also have a sense of humour, so combined they probably both help to add that light hearted touch. So let me say firstly welcome butlershead - which then leads me to say, you signed up nearly three years ago and that's your first post!!!?...i guess then that is an indication your patience must be very low. I'm sure your be welcomed with open arms as we welcome all new members, well at least in the posting sense, just hope you've brought the crash helmet haha
brb, i would not call that a welcome, just a guarded threat that criticism will not be tolorated by you in particular. Is this just a brownose site where only those who post things that you agree with are tolorated. Let people have their say without abusing them, even if you disagree can you do that theres a good fellow.
Not in the slightest a guarded threat or criticism at all...it was purely banter, I had just come off twitter with a banter exchange when i saw your post but hey whatever...the only guarded comments i see is coming from you 'brownose site'. Maybe you should try reading the site before making such an invalid suggestion about disagreeing with your criticism..http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/251096-PT I'll leave you in peace as that's how you feel.
Butlershead - please don't bring confrontation to this site, a lot of the regular members and readers will appreciate the leniency and hard work BRB puts into Not606 that is greatly appreciated by all so don't try and disrespect the man after he posted something that was taken outrageously out of of proportion. Anyway if you decide to take offence to this then thats fine but hopefully this can soon be water under the bridge! Going on the matter at hand, Peter Taylor still seems to divide opinion and admittedly I'm personally having a think about my own standpoint after defending taylor for a long period. Still think he was the right man to take the job to the end of the season and I cant see us going down despite losing the last two, however maybe at the end of the season Mr. Scally may have to have a good look at where he wants the club today but for now I'm still behind Taylor and the boys till the end of the season. Maybe a move upstairs into the position Hessy vacated may be a reasonable idea?
My apologies brb.I took your words the wrong way. However criticism of any kind does appear to be frowned on by many forums {Gills} . I hope this is a site where anyone who wants to say what they think {{within reason of course} is not abused if others disagree. It's all about opinions ,and everyone is or should be entitled to have their say surely?
butlershead, This site is quite happy to accommodate people with different views and opinions, just look at the Lee and Whelpdale thread if you need proof, however, opinion should be supported by reasoned argument to support your case. I am certainly happy for people to have opposing views to my own provided they are happy being wrong.
OK, here's a view from someone who was actually at Oldham. We played well, some really nice football, made good chances and failed to take them. Their keeper had a blinder. Not an occasion to launch an attack on the manager.
grumpygit - please be advised that I'm alwaysright We should embrace all opinions & as you say, to quantify that opinion - particularly if you intend to have any 'dig' at a fellow member - but that's not to say that this site should be a mutual appreciation society- which I am sure it isn't - it's just that we concentrate on more sensible behaviour. Any real nonsense should be reserved for the AGRS thread.
alwaysright, I am happy that you live up to your name and are therefore always right, unless of course you disagree with me which would make you always wrong.
Ok. I am now convinced. The quality of intellectual argument on this and other treads has finally convinced me that PT must go. Now I know relegation was beckoning when PT took over but we expected so much more from him. There are still no prospects of European football. Now I know some people are going to say that the squad is not strong but why hasn't PT strengthened it? Any Gills fan will tell you that Chris Dickson would solve the problems in attack and Simon King, with a bit of physio treatment would make the defence impregnable. And where is Junior Lewis when we need him, he is supposed to follow PT like a lap dog but he has yet to make an appearance. PT has failed in the transfer market completely. And that brings me to another point which any fool could work out from a glance at the league table. Gills have conceded 54 goals yet PT has done nothing about changing the goalie. The catalogue of errors made by PT is beyond belief. Just to name a few; 1 Use of subs has been a disaster. Just think back to the Port Vale game when at 3-0 he took off his two most delicate players (Bayo and Linganzi) and brings on two youngsters. What manager with any sort of brain would experiment when 3-0 up? And who would take off two tired players who you might need a few days later. Sheer madness. 2 Team selection has been foolish. Too much use of youngsters has meant that they have needed resting after playing well. Too much use of older players has meant a loss of pace particularly at the back. Only PT would fail to realise that he needs youngsters at the back and experience at the front! 3 We all know of the special relationship between PT and David Beckham (making him England captain etc). But how often have we seen Beckham? Not once, in fact you see him more at Twickenham watching the rugby than at Priestfield so PT has failed again! Just tink of the shirt sales if Becks had played the odd game and Victoria had turned out for GFC Gems. So, its time for a change. Gills need a motivator with a track record of avoiding relegation in the short term. In fact there is only one man for the job and it is not PT it is time for MA. I reckon further contributions on this subject should be prefaced by the contributor stating honestly what position in the league now, they expected after 9 games had been played and MA got the push.
butlershead - I would have only happily accepted your apology but sadly it was only a matter of hours before you launched another attack towards me. On another thread until alwaysright pointed out to you yet another hasty mis-judgement by you. Where you was accusing me of something that i did not have an inkling of what you were talking about. So now i raise you a few questions; 1. You state quote...'However criticism of any kind does appear to be frowned on by many forums {Gills}' . 1Q. What sites were these, I look at all the Gills forums and have done so for many years and not seen your username before? 2. You state...clearly in that other post, you know I am a moderator. 2Q. How do you know that i am a moderator, my title does not state so, you only posted for the first time yesterday. Yes, you may have read the forum for the last 3 years hence your knowledge but then why come here if you feel that way about me. I find it strange to say the least in a matter of only half a dozen posts you turn on me twice? Opposite opinion is more than welcome but direct attacks on individuals including me are not. I even said early in this thread, quote; 'I'll leave you in peace as that's how you feel.' and I had not posted where ever you were since but you still managed to turn on me, not once but twice. So you've got my attention now and both your rants at me look very oddly familiar. I've only ever had to ban one member from this site outright with a complete ip block and that was DOX. Due to verbal diarrhea across not just here but also banned from other Gills sites more tolerant than this one. I'm trying to think of the other alias of DOX's who tried to start up the 'Scally Out' style campaign. So either post within the spirit in which the board has held for the last three years or yes quite simply I will remove your account. I've put to much hard work into this site to take your unjust criticism. Your more than welcome to liven up debate but keep it to just that please. Alternatively your option is to choose another site that will allow you the freedom you so seek - hence i refer you back to your quote at point 1.
bristol407 you would have to admit though that we certainly need a Simon King esque type of Centre Back right now though.
I agree but for Simon King it is far too late and in any case he would need to borrow your spare leg. In the real world you have to make the best of what you have got. Either one of our statuesque centre backs would be fine so long as they had someone nippy alongside them. On second thoughts, Joe Martin has only got one leg and he plays every week so maybe King could be rehabilitated.
