Hi guys - first chance to get on the forum since the game. I live less than 30 miles from the CCS and I endured the longest hour of my life driving back from that one. That game was a watershed for us and although we had so much of it, you deserved to win it by a country mile. Superb set up by Bruce with 3 at the back initially to keep a clean sheet, but to eventually see us off. We pressed but couldn't make it stick. In the end we collapsed at the back with some woeful defending. Long and Jelavic, two players who I didn't rate too highly before the game, tore us a new one pulling our two CBs all over the park - our full backs are bloody hopeless. We had plenty of chances at the other end but for some reason (and good defending thrown in) they just wouldn't go in. Easy to say, but if one had gone in, maybe a different story - hey ho. Haven't seen any of the video stuff on MOD etc yet, but from where I was, your first looked like a clean strike from Huddles to me. Deflection it might have been, but we gave the ball away (Eikrem I think) and once that went in I could see more on the way. Jelavic's brace were well taken but our defence went asleep for both. Livermore's was a result of a very good break that we couldn't deal with. All in all that means you're safe imo, and we're as good as down - though still all to play for. I can't see Ole getting this lot together as a coherent team in time to keep us in the Prem. To my mind, Bruce is the epitome of what we need as a manager - wish we had him with us. Best of luck in the Prem next season.
You don't have enough PL experience on the pitch or off it. It's a pressure cooker at this level, almost like a game of poker. That's why there are so many sackings in the bottom half as directors bottle it.
Aye, Brucie knows the score. Signed players who had done it in the prem, but still with a point to prove. And haven't they...
Doesn't it make a nice change for an opposition fan to come on our board and praise us---not to take the pssi nor try to wum with all the excuses
I think you have the talent to survive OS but a stable team selection is vital. It's true your defenders were woeful at times especially for the second when Long had 5 defenders in front of him and only Jelavic available and a simple ball into the box and they all looked on as Jelavic smashed it home . Fabio was a mistake by OGS he failed miserable at QPR and should go back to Brazil.I wish you well for the remainder ,keep the faith as Norwich have a hell of a run in and Fulham look doomed.
Yesterday's game was a good indicator of how the two clubs have progressed since last season. I don't think many people on here would argue that Cardiff were ahead of us after we both achieved promotion, but while Cardiff under Mackay seemed to have a policy of buying everyone in sight, no matter what the price, SB showed his experience. He has spent wisely while keeping the rest of the promotion squad fully involved. This has maintained and improved what was already a very good atmosphere at the club and the fact that new signings; Huddlestone, Livermore and Jelavic scored the goals yesterday is testament to Bruce's managerial nous and the fact that we have overtaken Cardiff.
Another Cardiff City fan here. Congratulations on your win yesterday - it seems like you guys taught us a lesson in how to stay up once promoted. We'll be in the Championship next season, so I can only hope that we get our act together & manage to bounce straight back up...with any luck. Have a great time the rest of this season & hope to see you in the Prem the season after next!
Nice sentiments from the Cardiff fans but as some have said the fat bird ain't singing yet. There could be a few twists and turns yet to come and we aren't home and dry yet either.
Hopefully we can get the results we need and have a proper celebration for staying up! It was ruined by clowns running on the pitch against you last season! And a German missing a pen! :-(
A couple of wins and Cardiff fans will see things differently, there are always twists and turns. Hull and Cardiff seem to have hit on an unlikely good relationship, since that final game of last season, and no doubt through the fact we both have, to endure less than understanding owners. Thank you and good luck
Agreed. That was dreadful. Let's have a polite ripple of applause followed by the clanking of empty flasks for two minutes before we all exit in an orderly and quiet fashion.
What made it worse was the Cardiff fans breaking out into a cheer for no reason at the end! Well thought out but f'king annoying! :-(
Eh? I thought that was brilliant. They convinced a lot of us that the other results had gone against us. Sucked us in good and proper... Bastards.
