    Bramall Lane, 22nd February 2014
    Kick-Off 15:00

    Words from the manager

Manager on task ahead at Bramall Lane.

Steve Cotterill expects more changes from tomorrow’s opponents Sheffield United (3pm) as they look to juggle league and cup matches week after week.

The Blades have reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup with Budweiser after an impressive run which has seen them oust Aston Villa, Fulham and Nottingham Forest from the competition.

But Nigel Clough’s men have also won their last two Sky Bet League One matches to climb out of the relegation zone, drawing them level with City on 32 points, albeit with three games in hand.

Cotterill took the chance to watch City’s next two opponents in live action on Wednesday evening, with the Yorkshire club winning 1-0 at Gillingham.

The City boss told Bristol City Player: “They played a different shape against Gillingham and I don’t think they’ll do the same against us.

“They operated with a 3-5-2 formation in that game, but if (John) Brayford is fit again then they’ll probably go back to four at the back.

“It was a good win for them. There were chances at either end and Sheffield United had a bit of a break for their winning goal.

“They’ve been resting a few players and I’m sure there will be more changes. We just have to try and work out what we think their team and shape will be.

“But, once again, we know where we are with our team and that’s the most important thing.”

Cotterill isn’t fazed by the Blades’ additional games in hand, nor that of Crawley Town, who have only played 25 games - seven less than City.

“I’ve always thought it’s better to have the points on the board rather than games in hand,” he said.

“We’ve worked hard to move ourselves out of the bottom four and now we have to keep working hard to stay out of it.”

Cotterill has no fresh injury concerns in the camp.

    Head 2 Head

39 league games has been played between the two clubs with Sheffield United winning 21
Bristol City have only managed to win on 10 occasions with 8 ending in a draw

    'Interesting' facts

Bristol City have only manage 2 wins at Bramall lane in the league, the last coming back in 1957 a 3-0 win
Bristol City have only won once in the last 8 meetings
We are still yet to keep a clean sheet away from home this season
Today is a rare chance to record back to back away wins, the last time that was achieved was back in 2011 after beating Watford 3-1 (22.2.11) and then Coventry 4-1 (5.3.11)

Not good at all. Sounds like it's all Sheff Utd. To make things worse, several relegation rivals are leading - Crewe, Tranmere, Crawley, Notts Co.

    Typical City though

Most teams around us are winning bar Shrewsbury, but they are losing at Notts Co. Yet more evidence of how all these draws we get continue to hurt and that all the teams that lost last week are winning at half time this week.

So from 2 vital games we will likely only get a solitary point whilst all of our rivals could well be getting 3 points from 2 games. And that my friends could be the difference between survival and relegation.

Not good enough but I'm fed up with saying it

Well, that's that then, game over. Looking at the game stats, can't see us even getting 1 goal back, let alone two.

Furking shambles is this club from top to bottom say we are going down 2.0 and being hammered.

    Now 3-0

    No heart
    No fight
    No spine

Not even good enough for Division 3

Teams around us (Tranmere, Crewe, Crawley etc) are rolling up their sleeves and scrapping for their lives and what do we do ? Roll over and lie down

    WE ARE GOING DOWN

3-0 now. I thought the weeks rest was supposed to have helped our players, while Sheff Utd played last Sunday AND Weds... They should be knackered then, but 3 games in 6 days hasn't hurt them. Shame for all the City fans who made the trip to Sheffield, only to see us hammered. The goal difference is getting a pasting too.

I certainly think this club is on its Knees and going down to division four.

Who expected a result at Leyton Orient? As has been said many, many times, it is THESE games against our relegation rivals that we have to be most geared up for. These games are our Cup Finals. At a minimum, the aim must be to get a point and so prevent them getting the valuable 3 pts. Defeat against those around us just isn't acceptable, but its happening, like today. I honestly thought that, with a weeks rest, we should at least have been competitive today, but it sounds like we were far from it. The stark reality is that we prepare for life in L2.

Not much went right today did it
Still, its not over yet by any stretch. As has been said, we were always second favourites for a result here

Agree but we've been (or should have been) favourites to beat the likes of Colchester, Oldham, Coventry (everyone else beats them!!!) Tranmere, Crewe, Shrewsbury, and we've not won a single game against these teams.

I reiterate for the umpteenth time, this is a piss poor division and we're the biggest laughing stock out of the whole league. Our inability to win games is going to be our downfall so lets see who Lansdown is going to blame now when we're getting 7,000 next season, because I for one, won't be going to many (if any) games

'Enough' is getting closer and closer and I never thought I'd see the day or hear myself saying it, but I'm not alone..................
