Here we go chaps, week 16, and tight at the top, with just "goal" difference separating Wooly, Oddy and Brough. This week's challenge is the Betbright Chase 15-50 at Kempton. A very competitive handicap, but solvable. Unlike the Eider Chase at Newcastle which I considered, then dismissed as being too much of a lottery! At the foot Cats has to issue a challenge to both Jamba and Red. Cats was a no-show last week, so if he is absent again, it will be Jamba challenging Red. You may both PM me with 2 selections - I'll advise what is taking priority before the off. Good luck all, especially Oddy, as he has to face the unstoppable force that is Chaninbar
Just as a heads up - Betbright go NRNB in their race atm. Better yet, if you open an account with them, they will pay double the odds if you back the winner. Make of that what you will! EDIT: max £20
Reebs can you just clarify if I'm challenging Oddy cos you haven't got one of them c's next to me but you have got one against Uncle behind me. Cheers
I guess the bookies have more money to chuck around in sponsorship! But I don't think it's a race that goes back into antiquity - 2007 or so? But I too regret some of the old names disappearing - Massey Ferguson, Schweppes etc. - still, it's just a name I suppose and assuming prize money and conditions don't change then it's the same race
A bit longer than that Reebs - Dessie won it (I think in 1990) Here confirmation from wiki: "The event was established in 1988 as the Racing Post Chase, and was sponsored by the Racing Post from its inauguration until 2011. In the 2012 the sponsorship was taken over by rival weekend newspaper Racing Plus who backed the race until 2013, and in 2014 the sponsorship passed to BetBright. The race often serves as a trial for the Grand National, and two horses have won both races in the same year. Both of these horses, Rhyme 'n' Reason (1988) and Rough Quest (1996), also competed in the Cheltenham Gold Cup between their victories."
I stand corrected Interesting the history of sponsorship though, with beverage manufacturers looming large over the years. Lost Schweppes and Martell, gained Badger Ales and Irn Bru
My challenge to Uncle is ................ Ardkilly Witness ew Glad I'm not facing Chan, but Uncle is no slouch either
Mine showed at 10.35 but (a) I'm in England, on my son's computer (ie UK time) and it was 8.35 (b) I'm posting this at 9.14pm and this post is showing as 11.18pm. but it is 9.16pm
Should have posted first class Ron A bit previous Truth, but as we don't know whether or not Cats will play, I need a second selection anyway - pm me please
