Your experiences as a football fan matter I'm interested in how and why people become so passionate about football and what being a fan really means. Although football fans have attracted a lot of attention from the media and academia, this has been largely negative. So, as part of a research project at the Unversity of Oxford, I aim to find the more positive side of the fan experience from fans of Premiership teams. This is a great opportunity for you to have your say and be entered into a*£100*draw for taking part. The online survey takes around 5-10 minutes to complete and asks some interesting questions. Please do share the link with other friends who might be interested in getting involved too. This is a link to the survey: https://oxfordanthropology.eu.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_0DldVetfv68hBtj Hereâs a link to the research group on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Football-Research/1399755770273446?notif_t=page_new_likes Twitter: https://twitter.com/FootB_Research Looking forward to hearing from more Hull City fans soon, get in touch if you have any questions!
Done. I always have time to complete surveys for Uni students because I remember how much of a ball ache it is trying to get enough responses! Good luck with your research, if you find out anything particularly surprising or insightful I'm sure many members of this board (myself included) would like to hear it.
Thanks very much for taking time to complete this - I'm really excited to get the results in. 600 responses this week - absolutely chuffed with the football community. Still need a few more responses from Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Man U to make sure everyone's well-represented and I can start on the analysis...(interestingly, teams at the bottom of the league have had more fans respond to the survey) Will be more than happy to share the results with all who contributed
I don't think you'll find many Hull City fans on the Liverpool forum. Its mainly Liverpool fans with the occasional obsessed Spurs groupie here.
Lol oh I'm in one of those obscene friday moods caused by sleep deprivation, pricks at work, and a lack of grills
"Please read the following carefully: Imagine that a runaway train is hurtling down a track toward 5 fans who support your club. You are on a bridge under which the train will pass, and you can stop the train by jumping in front of it. By jumping in front of the train, you would be killing yourself to save the 5 other fans. Please indicate how strongly you would be inclined to take the following two actions: Sacrificing myself to save the other 5 fans Saving myself and letting the other 5 fans die How confident are you that you would take the action you selected? Not at all confident Extremely confident"
Not overly confident answering those 'what if' questions on morality. I suspect I'm lying to myself most of the time.
Livtor... sounds like the classic psychology question. Train on track out of control heading towards 5 innocent people and will kill them. You are at a switch in the track. You can redirect the train away from them but on the other line is one innocent person who will die instead. Do you sacrifice the one to save 5? (Most people say yes) Then the follow up question is 5 people in hospital dying. Would be healthy if could each have one transplant they need to live. Another man walks into hospital. He would be a perfect donor for the other 5 people. You could kill him and harvest his organs to save the other 5. Do you sacrifice the one to save the 5? (Most people say no) Then the question is: why do you agree to save the 5 in the first example and not the second? Both cases are pretty analagous... 5 people dying unless you perform an action to sacrifice one other man instead.
Interesting questions involving 3d parties, not nearly as daft as the one on the survey which asks you to sacrifice yourself I think that the discrepancy in the answers to your two questions is due to 2nd scenario's medical artifice and the sacred concept of property.
Survey done. That train question was particularly morbid. No way I'd sacrifice my precious lifesicle for any of you shower of ****e on here though.
