Arsenal reported to be holding talks with QPR over hit man Premier League giants Arsenal are holding talks with QPR striker Loic Remy over a 9 million pound move to North London in the summer, reports the Daily Express. The Gunners are keen to sign the Frenchman after his impressive showing in the Premier League whilst on loan with Newcastle so far this season and rumour has it that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has already made preliminary contact with the playerâs agent. Unconfirmed reports from the Journal also suggest that the 64-year old French manager, who has held a long term interest in Remy, may have also agreed on the transfer fee with Championship side QPR. Remy has been a big hit for the Magpies this season, having netted 11 times in 21 Premier League games so far, which had prompted Newcastle manager Alan Pardew to push for a permanent move for the 27-year old this January. Pardew though hinted that the player may want a bigger step up than a move to the Sports Direct Arena next season and whilst QPR too are hoping to persuade the French international to stay by gaining promotion to the Premier League next season, a substantial offer from Arsenal could be too hard to resist for both Remy and QPR. Remy has 21 French national team caps to his name and made a 10.5 million Euros move to QPR from Ligue-1 side Marseille last January.
I'm not sure that he is suited to Arsenal. He is a goal-scorer but does he contribute much in general play. Will he score many more goals than the strikers they already have?
Didn't we accept a 7mil release clause in his contract if we went down.... Anything above that is result if he wants to go -lets hope Newcastle, Arsenal and anybody else that is interested get involved in a bit of a bidding war. Other wise he will go cheap as per the contract we signed up to.
I thought the clause finishe d after transfer window...this guy is he real deal and delivers contantly We cant keep him but he'll make us a fortune once the bidding war starts..15 Mill starting price at min.
Found this - its from the mirror for starters and is somewhat out of date, but says his release clause was raised to 10Mil... http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/newcastle-united-transfer-news-loic-2644862
Wenger won't pay over his valuation of a player, it's why the Arses are potless for the past eight seasons...
If we go up we will need him. We should not sell IMO. Who could we possibly get for even £12m as good as Remy? What proven PL or PL quality striker would even consider coming to us? Remy is probably one of the best bits of business we have done. I think we should do all we can to keep the man as Charlie's strike partner.
Generally thought he would be a massive hit there Imagine him getting onto some clever through balls 17m not a penny less
The main problem we have chaps and Beth is the job of getting promoted !! Remy could be the difference between staying up and relegation and 9 million is little in the scheme of things when it comes to staying up in the premiership - if we make it up ?? !!
In which case £10m is the minimum would except however in the currently climate he's easily worth £12-15m
