To see a football teams board of director not to cave in and let a under contract manager talk to another team.
I'd like to see him told that he has a contract and he isnt going anywhere til it expires

That is never going to happen. If the manager wants to go then the board are stupid to force him to stay! A player or manager will only perform the best they can when they are happy and where they want to be.

Bassini originally turned and refused Cardiff permission to talk to MM, but Malky then supposedly wanted to be able to talk to them, it was not the boards choice at all.

The board can now only push for as much compensation as they can get away with.

The culture now is that managers are as disposable as nappies...and often leave a similar whiff behind!

I wonder what notice period goes in these contracts or are they only voidable by mutual consent or discipline? I would imagine we have every right to put him on gardening leave for contract term and sue for breach if some compensation isnt agreed which is what drives that process.

Blimey that's a bit cruel isn't it. I reckon Malky's deal recognised there might be a parting of the ways. It should have included an exit clause, if it didn't it must have been written by an amateur!

Malky's departure has not surprised me, I thought he would only stay at Watford in the short term. What surprised me is that there have only been 2 offers - Burnley was a convenient "toe in the water", it tested the resolve of Malky and the club. But I am majorly surprised that "only Cardiff" were interested in him this Summer.

I guess it shows us all how far under the radar we are, and that we need to accept Watford's status as 3rd rate "no hopers". After 2 years of Steve Claridge's mantra that "Watford are relegation certainties" I guess this may come true in year 3.

I want football to go away for a while until I believe Watford can be competitive at "our natural level". The only consolation is at least Cardiff haven't given us the "we have a Premier League setup" unlike the pikeys from Shepherds Bush.

Yep I`m upset at whats happened this last few weeks ! I am starting to believe that it would have been better for the club to go into admin! At least you know your going to have a crap year or two ,then like pompey wipe the slate and go again! This way is like a slow lingering cancerous death!
Whose Next out? GT? I couldnt blame him if he did! Like some others ,I wish contracts were adhered to would make the game a lot less obscene!

Contracts in football are useful for only one thing...and it's nothing to do with their supposed purpose!
