I don't have any resentment to Mash. I would forgive anyone trying to escape the farce that was Roy Hodgson, Purslow, Hicks and Gillette.

He was always a fantastic player, if hot headed. Would have him back for his sunset years.

Its sunny all summer long here. Sunshine everyday doesn't get boring. 35C+ temperatures quickly get old (although still rather heat to cold) but sunshine never does! Of course we get rain... but when the rain comes down in heavy bursts that rarely last more than 30 mins its much more tolerable.

The weather is perhaps the biggest reason I've not considered moving family back to England.

I grew up with North-western English weather... and im very English... and yes, it doesn't seem that bad if its all you're used to... but once you live elsewhere you don't want to return to that weather.

Is it only the weather? Do you prefer everything else over here?

Some put more importance on the weather than I do, like I say sunshine is great but for me wouldnt want it all the time

    I would say 2 things.

    1. how HOT is it. 35 degrees is like ok hot but is it HOOOTTT as in 90% humidity for months or is it dry heat.

    2. it depends where you live. Like lets face it, down chav and surrey way where the glory hunters all live its virtually that 35 degrees in the summer if a good spell hits. London and the south is virtually france after all... the surrender monkeys.

I rather prefer the cold. I've been in 105 degrees in vegas and walked round no bother. deen in 100 degrees and 90% humidity in virginia and frankly i hated it

FFS i've been out in a tee shirt in germany up the side of a mountain in a 5 star restaurant at 5 degrees celsius and the germans all in coats.

people are used to hwat they are used to.

Was really hot when I was in Vegas, too hot. I can cope with heat but even the locals were saying its very hot. They were having a heatwave and pll had died

Excuse to stay in the nice air conditioned casinos for much longer though

Its a mix pros and cons to everything. It all balances out. Yeah you get $2.97 per gallon petrol. But almost zero public transportation.

You can buy a house for $100k but houses in America are really crappily built with cardboard-like walls in the interior.

Eat-out places and variety are great... but you can't buy decent cheese, chocolate, and groceries at the store are lower quality.

Weather is the one thing that stands out. That and my wife is American and moving the family would be a hassle.

I have no deep roots though... would like to experience living in another country before die.

Wouldn't turn down an opportunity to live somewhere else before I die. Australia, maybe Brazil. I've stayed put too long.

US is an easy country to move to. Speak same language. You're mostly familiar with their culture already from TV. They love the English (most people) and everyone is excited to meet an Englishman.

I wouldn't get such a positive reaction from random strangers back home... or probably any other country on earth.

Also whereas most stereotypes about cultures are negative (and the US has some negative ones about England: bad teeth and ugly women), most stereotypes about English people in US are positive.

Everyone here assume English are all really friendly, excessively polite, charming and of superior intellect... and drink a lot of tea.

That's the kind of stereotype that helps you in a job interview. Well... not sure if drinking tea will land you a job.
