A little birdy has told me that a Swansea Councilor is in the deep stuff after it has been leaked that he was able to buy 50 season tickets for next season. Apparantly the media are looking to name and shame. If it's true, he deserves all he gets.... and I wanna know if we had to pay for them through his expenses. Time will tell, but who would belive a politician, the very pillar of our community, would steep so low as to take advantage of a privileged position.
Who sold them to him though??? Like I said some time back in my Thread 'The plastic has arrived!' the club have handled this like some wild west gold rush, and I'm continually hearing from real ST holders who lost out to this plastic, last Jack I talked to, has been a Season Ticket holder for 15 years, and is gutted, that he can't see his team at the Liberty this season, some don't like the term Plastic, but I do as it is symbolic of not real money, or real fans, where was this councillor when we had 6000, down the Liberty for the cup game against Leyton Orient, back in January, like the rest of the plastic no where to be found, not real fans at all, they will all soon evaporate if we come back down, that I'll put money on!............ please log in to view this image
What will really piss me off is the empty seats from plastics that haven't bothered to show up just cos it's a mid week game on a cold/wet november night and a 'glamour' club isn't playing. If only there was a way where the corporate plastics that don't show could at least tell the Liberty in advance so at least some more general tickets could go on sale. There should also be a record kept for the plastics. Fail to show up for a certain number of games and you don't get a season ticket next year. Sorry, rant over
I've said before there not plastics but GLORY hunters!!! I do wonder if all ST holder will turn up for lets say Wolves for the sake of it on a wet Tuesday night in the depths winter, will be interesting to see the attendance that night!! If this is true then questions need to be asked of the club, how the hell can you sell 50 ST to one person. None of us could have done that!!!!!
I think that's been fully explained in the thread I ran that had over 3000 hits on the subject, A lot got cought out in the general stampede, some continually went down only to be met with long queue's for Play-off ticket's, and wembley tickets, others complained of not being able to purchase or renew on line, many did not expect the ground to be sold out in 3 days after Wembley, everyone has a story, as do those that got they're ticket, after queueing for 17 hours, some still didn't, but the reality is that 40,000+ went to wembley, but only 6000 went to the Orient game back in January, the ground only holds 20,000 so the club should have made an effort to protect the true fans!.............. please log in to view this image
They did protect the so called real fan phil by having season tickets on sale for almost 3 months, how much more do you the club to do, I am going to be blunt here, if you didn't renew your season ticket early, tough you were given enough time, you were given finance option to pay over the season, you could have got a £100 voucher to spend in the shop! Real fans as you and others put it phil would have renewed early, I did and thousands of others did also, no excuses mate sick of the crying, they had enough warnings!
renewed mine as soon as they went on sale irrespective of what division we were in, people had enough time from march onwards so no sympathy with those who only wanted them because of promotion and couldnt get them, yes 40000 of us went to wembley cos of the occasion,so did reading, same could be said of any club that reaches a final with a few exceptions of those who get over 40000 every game
There is no crying to be sick of, do you think that the "Swansea Councilor is in the deep stuff after it has been leaked that he was able to buy 50 season tickets for next season." is an isolated case? would you have been able to have got 50 ST tickets? what does this tell you of how all this was handled, this is a debate, that has been raised by swimaway and is an example of the free for all that the club allowed, not everyone was aware, whether they should have been or not is another issue, you know full well that giving 50 ST's to a Swansea Councilor is not right! And if your going to spew, turn your head ......... please log in to view this image
I just wonder where this will end. Do you have to produce ticket stubs for the previous 10 years to show what a true supporter you've been, Demand far outstripped the supply.Regardless of where we finished last season I know well established Swansea Senior league players & supporters who have bought season tickets based on the quality of football given to the paying public (well before the final )meaning that they'll give up playing (which anyone has played the game at what ever level is a big decsion)The club need to grow and I accept that there will be evidence of the no shows for the non fashionable games but the club has more financial stability than I can ever remember and hopefully the club will grow and become established at this new level( 8 years ago you couldn't have dreamt it) , with the ability to satisfy the demand. just my opinion
Well anyway it's done now, but it won't surprise me if more of these sort of stories come out, may I suggest some quells for your nausea Jager!................ please log in to view this image
Phil unless some verifiable facts come out to back this rumour, it means it still is a rumour, and even if this person did buy so many tickets, if it was his own money spent, has he broken any laws ? For what purpose has the tickets been bought? Spending about £20k could mean many things, I will reserve judgement until facts come out, shame you have just come out and assumed it's true, now don't let the facts cloud your judgement. And for the record I am not condoning what this alleged person has done!
Totally fed up now of people continually calling people who didn't renew early "Not real fans". I'v stated hundreds of times that everyone has had their reasons for not renewing. It's called circumstances. In my case, I have work commitments and wasn't told until 3 days AFTER the final that I would be allowed time off to go to all home games. So, am I not a real fan? Your tarring people with this brush when you don't know the circumstances and it's bullshit. Just because you were able to get yours all nice and early, it's **** the rest of the die hard fans. I'm not saying you should feel sorry for us, not at all, but show a little remorse when spreading **** like that because I am the most gutted Jack out there!!!
Thank you Jager for pointing out the obvious. We bought ours early as we knew where ever we were playing we would be there. But success does fetch problems with it. We all know people who have followed the Swans but do not have a ST. And likewise, people who have suddenly become life long fans. The club did try to accommodate fans by offering ST early. that's why, even though I knew when I bought my ST I cannot attend every home game, I bought it as soon as I could! its easy to knock but it was never going to be easy, when suddenly everyone wanted a golden season ticket.
And you are tarring everyone who bought a ticket early a plastic, or not a real fan! You don't know their circumstances, it works both ways mate, yes I bought early and I am sorry you couldn't for whatever reason, but to criticise people for buying is not right, they bought and pumped money into the club, you still can buy on sale tickets for every game. Some of my friends by the way are in the same boat as you, they are philosophical about it.
Well of course Jager, I've not stated it's written in stone, and neither has the OP, I will wait and see, just like you!.................... please log in to view this image Jack ash, well said mate! Just like to pick up on Jager's twist on plastic refering to those buying early, which to me is not the issue, it's the thousands of plastic (or Glory Supporter) who have not been supporting the Swans, who have not set foot near the Liberty, until hay presto we are in the Prem, and these are only there to see they're teams Manu, and Chelski, it is they that have sqeezed the other true supporters out!.......... please log in to view this image
There was some poor handling by the club and it hasn't been mentioned. It impacted me but I don't expect sympathy because I had the money to buy an ST before we'd even beaten Forest but for an unknown reason I didn't sort it out. When we won the final, the club came out on the Tuesday and said no developments on the remaining season tickets until next week. Fair enough I thought, I'll transfer money into my bank account from my savings one and give my boss the heads up that I'd need to take a days holiday the following week at short notice. Then on Thursday night I get a text from my mate saying the remaining ST's go on sale tomorrow it's on the club website, get your ass there early. Impossible on 2 counts because my money hadn't come through but even with the opporunity to borrow the money I hadn't arranged the time off work. Bad communication for the remaining ST's after the final I'm afraid.
Regardless of the plastic contingent or the late comer s/t holders.Being allowed to get 50 tkts is abusing your position weather in the council or at the club, (because someone had to agree to sell them before they could be bought) and in any industry i've worked in that type of abuse is a sacking offence, be interesting to see what if anything happens if this is true
Agree there, genius I noticed that one, I got a text telling me at 11:45 PM that Thursday, when down my local having a pint, that there was a queue of 600 going around from the ticket office to the east stand, I was due to go down at four in the morning, but decided it would be pointless, I'm glad I didn't bother, after hearing the fighting in the queue, and queue jumping, where the police had to be called, to control the crowd, a mate of mine was given a yellow wrist band, by the police, but he never got a ticket, after waiting all those hours!...................... please log in to view this image
So point me to the place where it says someone can't buy multiple season tickets ? Also as long as the tickets have been legitimately without public funds being used what law has he/she broken ? And phil explain to me what a true supporter is? How can a club verify a true supporter? What excuse can the club give when there is a person in the ticket office asking for 4-5 season tickets for his family, and saying hey you got £1500 for tickets , but you or your family are not true fans go away! Now we will wait for true fans to buy tickets on the day! Very sound business sense, turning business away, I am sure now that we are in the premier league we can do that, while we are there let's give £7m for Graham , and any new players we buy, we agree a price with a club, but pay them double because they are true clubs and deserve it!
