Gary Neville ‏@GNev2 22s Oh Fulham ! I will stick with the United's and Arsenal's! Longevity in this world is not failure! The rest can Sack off!! Someone's not very happy.
I reckon he's a close friend of Neville's having worked with him for so long. It's a strange time when teams get rid of their managers just after the January window. You'd think if they was thinking about it, they'd give them a chance to change the team at least.
He only got the job in....October? New chairman invested a lot in that club - presume too much to lose
Has he gone or has he been demoted to coach? It says on the BBC website, as yet no mention of his fate.
Sacked. Was watching it on SkySportsNews earlier literally as it was announced. There was no first mention of what was happening with Meulensteen, but then they released a statement saying Magath was a straight replacement with Rene obviously doing one. There's going to be a further statement later confirming the futures of the backroom staff (Curbishley and co.).
Meulensteen has been sacked because of Fulham full back Reither's last minute rash foul that lead to Liverpool's winning penalty. A 2-2 draw and I guarantee he would have still been manager. Such errors are what determines the destiny of managers.....
Off the back of a gutsy really well thought out draw with Man Utd away then a last minute loss to a title contender. It's hands down a ridiculous situation but I won't mourn his departure if it destabilises a rival.
From Raphael Honigstein on Twitter, recent Lewis Holtby quote: "I wouldn't have a problem if van Gaal came in. After all, I've survived Felix Magath, too" Should be interesting.
"With 12 matches remaining, we certainly can no longer post empty results. Action was required." I think that says it all about the way Fulham are being run. Who'd have thought that the post-Fayed era would be less sane than when the old Fugger was in charge?
I'm telling you that taking down their lucky mascot from the north-west corner has brought them bad luck. They need to reinstate Jacko post-haste.
"Officially" done one now. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11681/9173041/fulham-confirm-departure-of-rene-meulensteen-ray-wilkins-and-alan-curbishley
