After seeing 375 'real supporters' made the trip to E10 in difficult weather conditions made me remember the trip I made with some mates just 2 days out from being 29 years to the day. Saturday 9th February City played Orient away and in those days 'football special' trains were put on. Train tickets sorted my mate Eric arranged to pick me up Saturday morning in Midsomeer Norton in time to get to Temple Meads for a few pints as booze was banned on the train, Without being forecast England had a massive covering of snow from Friday night into Saturday morning. Somehow Eric's Austin 1100 managed to slide up Hursley Hill before getting to Temple Meads on time to leave but no boozing. That trip to Bristol was just the start of our problems, Snow on the rails etc resulting in a very long journey with a train full of sweaty City fans starting to lose their patience. We eventually arrived just before half time then ran to the ground slipping on the snow covered pavements in time for the 2nd half. I know we won 1-0 but I can't remember if we saw the goal, who scored it and did we pay to get in? Does anyone else remember this trip, and I don't want to think about the train down to Plymouth when the police wouldn't let us get off - ****ers! please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
I went on the 125 instead ... The special did what expected and there was no drink... It was cold. ... Drink was important ...No drink no fun no football ... Was there at KO riddled in beer and whiskey. Ice stalactites or summat in the stand on the left to terrace. Empty away end cept for some Swindon and handful of City. The Pritch scored the goal.
