A win by a good margin over a good side, Out of the relegation zone, Up to 17th place, Let's build upon this and go on a run of games and get ahead of the relegation battle as teams such as Gillingham have done. Next year, with a dip into the transfer market I sense we can improve. I predict that in 3 years time we will be back in the championship. COYR CTID
I am sticking by my prediction that next year we will win Div 1 SL may have to put his hand in his pocket, and we will need inspired purchases by SC, but if we can keep all our good players and Kelly stays fit I am putting a 5er on us to win it nb This is not because we won well at one of the best teams tonight - I made this assumption pre-season
First decent - good performance for a month. At 2-1 it could have gone either way and both keepers had mares. Back four looked better than a back three which will come as no suprise to anybody. Centre of midfield looked better and lo and behold J-E-T and the defence looked better which will comes as no suprise to anybody either. Not sure about centre halfs as full backs. Lot of work to be done. Worst turn out of City fans in years for a London game. Mostly London reds and hardly any on earlier trains from Bristol v Brentford only a couple of weeks ago. Orients ground is odd, really odd and looks like Barry Hearn has put a snooker hall in one corner.
Poor turn out due to no obvious fans London all dayer on. Brentford there were 50 on the 12.30 and the next. Yesterday it was a handful. There appears to be more interest in Shrewsbury away and Rotherham. People are also saving the cider tokens due to the poor form of the team and distrust of Cotterill. Seen seven of the last eight, missed Oldham and last night was the best performance for what feels like months. Pity it came away from home, but turn that level of effort into the norm and fans will turn around. Players in general looked more comfortable in their roles and so played better. It isn't all some mystic art.
Possibility of the Tube strike kept people (including me despite me working in Barnet) away. Orient don't get great crowds anyway, but given the weather, and the possible transport issues, and the fact that the East End of London isn't that easy to get to/from midweek from Bristol probably all contributed.
Possibility of the Tube strike kept people ... Many on the train book in advance. The last trip to London only weeks ago saw City ceasing to resemble a proper football team and players giving up. Post-match the talk was "I am not going to" v "how are you getting to". Performances like those at Brentford lose trust, it was worse than the Carlisle and Coventry games. Fans that night were made to feel like mugs for attending. Scores left early. Performances like last night make it easier to part with money for what is in many ways a silly extravagant pastime. Effort was there, the team was playing, no complaints, fans stayed to the end.
Couldn't deal with the prospect of another game in London like the last one. People dealt with it in different ways. Some wandered off down the railway tracks and haven't been seen since, some just STARE when Brentford is mentioned. Felt numb and dumb. XI playing like w**kers and I/us/we paid for it. It just a game ... Not worth wasting life time on team that plays like that and getting vexed about it. Build upon this ... Upwards, sideways, backwards now, dunno. Shows you can't trust em ... Played well and nobody there. On a natch wagon to Shrewsbury and Rotherham.
