    Hi guys,

A little while ago Mcnally said that he wouldn't allow us to be in the relegation zone and it was unacceptable for us to get that low in the league.

We are now rapidly approaching this point as our season gradually turns into a disaster.

Does anyone think we might see a change in manager? It appears that this is what Mcnally said wil happen if we do drop into the relegation zone.

I can't see it and this would realistically be the last opportunity to make a change.

Don't think he said we would change the manager if we went into the relegation zone. Just alluded to it with his comments. Dont think it will happen.

maybe in a normal season but this year you can win a couple of games and be 'safe' in mid season. most teams will be going up and down in the league without really pulling clear, as has happened this year. in the relegation zone this year is not as bad as normal.

i think its to late in the season to change the manager and who on earth would we get who would want to come?

    Saturday he's a genius , Tuesday let's sack him

    What are you on

This is the PL we will get a few years up
Oh then we will go down
    Then we go up
Oh and then we go down

We are not a top 8 side never will be never
will we have that type of backing

Just enjoy being in the PL while we are rather than
    moaning
There's a 7/10 chance we will survive so you
get another year to moan about it

We are in the same position as if we were out of the relegation zone on goal difference only. Make of that what you will

But would Fulham still be a 'stable PL side' today if they'd blindly stuck with Lawrie Sanchez?

    Somehow i doubt it.

It's very hard to comment on the competence or effectiveness of a manager as a fan as we only see them "perform" for 90 minutes. there was a very interesting article about managers on ESPN a while ago (here) which basically said fans don't get told the whole picture. what I can say is that for my position I find his team selections to be poor (how has Snodgrass played so much this season? why has Wes been basically been forced out? why did it take him so long to bring in Olsson when he was clearly better than Javi?) and his substitutions are generally too late and demonstrate, I feel, poor reading of the game as it progresses. OGS read the game against us perfectly, he spotted that we had little pace in the team and brought on Zaha who changed the balance enough for Cardiff to get some confidence.
There was a lot of praise for the tactics that he used at the weekend but in reality that was basically the only team we had fit, and he should have played the same team but no he moves our best player in the previous game to his weak side to accommodate a player who has been consistently below average this season.

That is debatable bath. How many times this season have we heard Hughton say, "We only started to play for the last 20 minutes?"

No one said he was a genius, he did finally get a good performance and decent result and he gets a small modicum of credit for that. but as Bath has said, whilst I think he picked the right side on that given day, like bath I think it was pretty much forced on him by injuries. It is harsh to be down on him after another game where we were the better side and should of won it had we been more clinical infront of goal. But thats the story of our season and last.
But seriously his substitutions cost us the game in my opinion. And to be fair I like some have not thought for a very long time he is up to the job, once again last night is just more proof.

    Bah!

p.s. Bugger, I was trying not to get involved in the Hughton bashing any more, he is just useless GGGgggggrrrrraaaarrggggghhh!!

I think for periods in the game last night we were very good, Redmond is getting better and better but it's no good playing great football if your manager is so tactically inept he can't get the team scoring and sabotages your efforts with stupid substitutions. The players we have imo are capable of finishing the season in a reasonable table position, but not with CH at the helm. I just hope we can scrape through and give him the boot in the summer.

I'm tired of shouting at the screen every time CH makes a daft sub decision!

We wouldn't even be having the dicussion if we'd put away the chances, some of which were even created by movement and running from midfield and through balls- most folk were crying out for an improvement in performances which has been seen in the last few games. generally very good defensive shape and some good attacking play. There are still games to go. i'm not giving up hope yet, and why the **** should anyone see relegation as a certainty- it's a dog fight and we're in it

I think the main reason is lack of goals, we can't score for toffee at the moment, the teams around us are winning games and getting shock results. I can see us scraping through but only just.

I know we aren't scoring, but I think the first step is to create more chances, which is happening. I'm trying to be optimistic
