Quick question chaps - has anyone not gone up with 90 points ? (I doubt it) We are on course for the 90 point mark and hopefully one or two good strikers coming in this month will ensure this............
With Leicester and Burnley winning still and keeping their form then maybe 90 might not be enough !!! Lets hope they both go through a sticky patch............
Then you have Derby, Forest & Reading breathing down our necks. Could be 6 that pull away = tough season !!
Anything can happen, of course, in the 20 games remaining, but it is sobering (hic!) to realise that Leicester need to win just 11 of their games to reach 90 points so they can afford to lose 9 or almost half of the remainder. We need to win 13 (or 12 and two draws) , similar for Burnley, so even though we have 3 points more than we did when we were at the same stage in our championship-winning season, the pressure and the competition is far greater this time around.
We did also lose both matches against leeds 2010-11. Also i remember we got only 1 pts from Norwich.....
20 games to go and we're 10-11 wins and some draws away from promotion. We have a point average of exactly 2 points per game, more than sufficient for automatic promotion. The Burnley game is key though! A win there and we are perfectly set to do it. I use my signature to keep me sane when we're not doing to well, helped especially during our Christmas run. See below
That defeat to Derby brings our season back parallel to our championship winning year, but the 56 points we have now leaves us 11 points behind the leader whereas in 2010/2011 it was enough to be leading the division. Extraordinary. Another anomaly is that game 30 that year was also against Reading, but away; oh and by the way we lost 0-1.
Hmmm interesting. Alot of people were/are saying the championship is weaker this year but the points would suggest otherwise.
You could actually argue that it IS weaker because one team is running away with it and the next couple of teams have more points than in previous seasons meaning the sh*t teams are even shi*ter, hence making the division less competitive. Likewise you could argue this year's Prem is actually stronger than last year because there's a number of teams competing for the title and the sh*t teams aren't as sh*t as usual and aren't giving up as many points as before. Last year United ran away with it. You could argue it both ways but to be honest I think its all a load of bullsh*t. Every year we say we're in a tougher league than the one we were in previously. Three years ago we were positively certain it was the toughest league ever. Now all of a sudden we're saying this year is even tougher. No doubt if we're still here next year it will be even tougher and so on. Take Dull. Last year they went up automatically with under 80 points and having lost 15 games. You might say they was in a poor league but someone could easily argue that the league was a very good one precisely because they were beaten so many times. And they could point to the fact that they're now holding their own in the Prem to prove they were well worth their promotion. Still, if we manage to equal our points haul of three years ago, it'll almost definitely be enough to get us up automatically.
I remember that game well. It was on Sky. Ephraim got hisself sent off in the first half but we ground out a one-niller. I'd take another one of those this Sunday, Twins my man
It was that reading result that convinced me that we would be promoted that season....hope for the same this sunday....
