He has a certain reputation which may well be undeserved, I think as fans we expect him to have a strop and want a transfer and this is why we are relucant to give him the love that he deserves.

He's been brilliant and seems focused on what we are doing, with the way he was treated at Chelsea and City he will want to stay with us regardless of who come in for him.

He seems to love us so bit strange why we haven't opened our arms as a fan base just yet - maybe we are a bit scared to do so with strikers due to being burnt by Torres (and Suarez).

Personally think he is a fantastic player and his goal scoring record for us is excellent, if he had come from abroad people would be saying he is one of the best centre forwards in the world

There once was a lad called Sturridge

Who came to us from the Bridge

    He is turbo powered

He scores lots past Tim Howard

And his dance is as cool as a fridge

Absolutely bang on. Remember when Flanno scored? First man there was Luis. Sturridge is a very good player, but I wonder where his real loyalties lie. Don't forget he was found to have told someone BEFORE the England match (where he picked up a knock) that he wouldn't be playing in the Derby. That attitude needs to change <ok>

well this is true but jesus is an lfc fan...

if he stops getting injured and cuts out the silly selfish 1 in 100 shots he could be world class... there's not many english players you say that about

Well mine was a bit less miserable than your offering eh mate <laugh>

Veering us back on topic.....I agree with MITO about his moments of selfishness being annoying but then is a striker as effective without that selfish streak. Take a player like Coutinho who seems to think about things too much when in front of goal. Wouldn't he benefit from being a bit more single minded rather than Sturridge benefitting from being less selfish? As for whether or not there is less love for him well he's only been here a year and it's fair to say I'm loving him more and more every passing week.....but I do still have serious concerns about his injuries....and I do have an issue with players who don't celebrate goals properly :D

The problem with Studger is when he joined we already had a striker we adored. Gerrard, Suarez, Hyypia, Carra, Luis Garcia - we had no-one in those positions when they made their mark of they replaced previous icons (Suarez/Torres, Gerrard/McManaman, Torres/Cisse or to a further extend Owen). I think he can be as Lethal as Torres if he carries on (Torres has a slightly better Goal/Game career avg. 1 in 2.51 while Studgers is 1 in 2.62). Torres has 5 years on Sturridge and he has played for a mid-table Athletico Madrid in a league where defences are generally weaker then for a Liverpool side which built their game around him and then on to Champions League winning Chelsea while Sturridge has been on the fringes of Man City & Chelsea before joining Bolton on Loan and then a Liverpool side who at the time were not even good enough to qualify for the europa league.

The potential is there and I think in time he can grow in to quite the Liverpool layer (and he could possibly be seen later on in his career as a Liverpool & England great) but he has to keep working hard and keep that fantastic game/goal ratio

    <applause>

    Or

There goes a lad called Sturridge
He's got goals, speed and courage

He loves to take his own chance
Will shoot and score, then do his dance

    He was an unwanted talent,
That Roman, o what a bellend

He deserves our love for sure. A bit of a touchy personality, can sulk pout and be selfish at times, but overall he has been trrific.
