How many Sunderland fans are divided on Dozy Altidore??It's like the happy-clappers threads when MON was manager at our great club...but where do you stand???Not only can he not score a goal,he stops our goalie from saving a goal on Saturday!!Liability??Yes,in a big way from me!Give young CW a chance instead of JA,and for as many games that Dozy has failed to score in,and I am sure that we will stay in the Premier league!

I can't say I rate Altidore, after all why would you? A striker should be judged mainly on goals (obviously) and it's not happening and doesn't look like happening either.

Having said that, his hold up play has improved significantly over the past few games and because Johnson and Borini are scoring I would persist with Jozy for the time being and see if he continues to improve. If not then Wickham deserves his chance.

Once Scocco is up and running, hopefully this problem will be sorted.

The game is changing, evolving, there's a lot more to being a striker then scoring goals. I'm happy with Jozy's all round play, though he needs to be scoring much more. If he'd had around 6 league goals at this stage I'd be happy with him. Baring in mind that only Suarez, Agüero, Sturridge, Giroud and van Persie have scored 10 league goals or more from the out and out striking positions. We can't expect a goal machine for 6m though his return is very questionable. Like I said on the other thread, I'm happy to give him another 12 months to adapt and settle, there are priority's in the summer after all, replacing loan signings and those out of contract. Clearly Poyet want's him coming short which takes him away from the danger area anyway. Poyet knows the score, he knows he doesn't have the goals in him at the moment so is utilising him in a way that get's the whole team chipping in.

I think bashing him for not performing up front on his own in a 10 man team is as laughable frankly, considering their were much worse mistakes on that pitch that moulded the way in which the game went.

I kind of agree with this in the fact that he is being asked to perform for the team and not just as a striker, but not many teams in the EPL play with out and out strikers now anyway. Man Utd, Arsenal, Citeh, Chelsea all don't and their strikers are scoring goals. Also what about the chances that Jozy has had in front of goal? he's fluffed them all.

He's done well for the last few games, didn't see Hull so can't comment, he was brilliant against the scum and did well against Stoke, if he can add a few goals to his game I'm sure his confidence would grow and we'd see a different player but until that happens and we continue to struggle, he will always be judged on goals not scored.

Broken record springs to mind. His hold up play is good, in front of goal pap. He has clearly been asked to play in a way which suits the team, which has worked very well since November.

If Gus doesn't think Connor can do any better, i'll trust his judgement even if he may get a few things wrong from time to time. He's only human after all.

Jozy is a real dilemma, unfortunately Connor does not look the answer either at present. If Sococco can step up to the plate, with Borini and AJ., this could be a fluid attack with pace and goals.

Disagree with the comment about Connor mate, was thrown in the deep end against hull and I just can't judge him based on that 30 min cameo on the field when we were brownless. As I've said in another thread Gus needs to trust the lad & give him a start, 8 goals in 11 for Sheffield weds well their's not much more the fella can do to earn a start. Regarding scocco, I think their's a good reason Gus hasn't played him yet and if my memory serves me correct he'd only scored one or two goals for his club in Brazil before his transfer to us.

I'm sorry to say that it seems that a large number of our fans always need a scapegoat to vent their frustrations on, whether it be a manager or player..My only logical explanation for this is that they are severely henpecked in their home life and need an outlet...These are probably the same people who sit on their hands either in silence or whinging at the games rather than being supportive of the team...

That's why his goal return is questionable isn't it? Needs to start taking his chances or I think he'll be sold in the next Jan window.
