I have made it clear that I will not be renewing my pass for a team called Hull Tigers, and speaking to a number of City fans locally it seems I am not alone. I am now aware within the group of fans I travel to games with, sit with & drink with from the Ferriby/Brough areas that North Ferriby United look set to get a protest boost even more likely if promotion is achieved again this season.
If Ferriby had been struggling, I could possibly consider it, but it wouldn't sit well with me to change to a club on the up that I've not really bothered with before. Over that, if the name change goes ahead, I'd feel let down by the FA and concerned at the direction it implies they want football to go in, so I doubt I'd bother much with football at all. I'll decide at the time, as there are likely to be plenty of twists to come.
If NFU make it to the SkyBet FL72 will they be the first village team to make such an achievement? I'd love to see that happen.
As the song goes: "I would rather be a Tiger than a c**t!" i.e. rather support a team from Hull with a daft name than be a plastic scouser/manc etc... A lot of people say they'd give up supporting the team - personally I'll still be going IF the name changes, I just won't buy any merchandise. I still love going to games (even if referees, divers etc p*ss me off most weeks), it's still going to watch football, it's still supporting a local team and more importantly, if the name does change, surely day 1 is when the fight to change it BACK begins? Why bail out on something you care about instead of fight for it?
Go then. I am sure NFU will make you most welcome. Others will take your pass with thanks of that i am sure.
I wondered if this would happen when Allam was on about moving to Melton, as that would have made North Ferriby a lot of peoples local club
Dazzar86, spot on my friend, who knows what will happen if the name changes, but I'll still be there to find out & help support those who would want it changed back. Eventually.
We only just sell out as it is and that's with loads of away fans in the home end, we need to be attracting more fans, not ****ing off the ones we already have.
As a matter of interest, if the away side don't take up their allocation, is there any attempts by the club to sell more to home fans, and just move the segregation line?
that's the ticket! take that money out of allam's grasping hands and put it instead into, erm, erm... allam's... damn.
These things are limited by the poor design of the KC, which has been discussed before and the police and Safety Advisory Group who seem to panic at the thought of fans been anywhere near each other. Sometimes it doesn't seem as much a problem for games you would expect there to more concern about. Probably due to those concerned not having a clue about the opposition fans or any previous history of trouble with them.
I think it was the Fulham game where they extended the home part of the North stand to as far as they currently can. The attendance was 23,925 including not many from Fulham, and I'm fairly sure that we sold out the home areas
There's 4 full blocks available to our fans in the North Stand tomorrow night, instead of the usual 2 and a half.
