Putting up early as this 5/4 chance will be odds on tomorrow. Wolverhampton 16.00 Big Baz. 40 points win at 5/4 To make it interesting, a little forecast with Stasio (6/1) and Well Painted (10/1)
Evening all -racing hopefully comes from Catterick Bridge and Plumpton -with some decent competitve racing for a monday in feb. Also they go on the sand at Dunstall park -where there is a class 2 handicap with some reliable handicappers and some promising types competing for a biggish pot. Strictly Silver is my selection -despite the top weight , he has the form in the book -he was sent off 7/4f before xmas for a similar contest-sat at the back and never landed a blow-R winston was on that time --he has since run well both times since-with the same jockey --tomorrow he has Tim Clark -a very able 7lb claimer--Strictly Silver's four victories have all been with claimers on his back-he has some fast times in this grade--which cannot be said for some of his rivals. Good luck as ever.
sorry ron -just done one as well-- you can sort it --funny we have gone for the same race--but from a different angle !!
Am off to plumpton tomorrow; Not the best of card but just one for me so far; 15.40 - Spirit Oscar- 5/1
That is a race I am interested in watching Ron but I am not sure I am brave enough to back my view. Were I backing it however it would have to be Strictly Silver or Star Links and I would be against Big Baz. The reason being Big Baz has little going for him except that he went off a price last time that suggested connections know he is much better than that race, and is indeed unexposed compared to others. Against however is that he is going up 2 grades and running against horses who have proved themselves already in the grade they race at today. We also have that the horse Big Baz beat last time flopped on Saturday in a race which he really should have won if having any ability at all as it was a poor grade 5 on Wolverhamptons Saturday night card. The horse was beaten 4 1/2 lengths by a 72 rated horse and Big Baz beat him a length (an easy length granted), but today his competition mentioned above are proven 99 and 87 horses and that piece of form does not make Baz an 85 horse and he may struggle. Big Baz is unbeaten and unexposed but I am going for Strictly Silver to show him what its like to run against proper all weather horses in the higher grades, as it really is only at grade 3 and above that there is any quality.
Blue sky --i'm with you --have put up a thread starter but ron beat me to it--Allied with the fact that SS has been running in this grade all year--he seems to be following last years win in the lincoln trial here-with a run at lingfield over 10f and beaten a length and a quarter by robin hoods bay--LTO he again ran in the same lingfield race and was beaten 2 lengths-he now returns to the scene of his last AW win --and again has a claimer on his back--All victories have been gained with claimers--the yard is in good order --i shall be having a good bet on this !
Definitely with you Rudi but I may watch it and let it win. That race comes into the category of good advice I read long ago which was never be afraid to let a horse you fancy win without your money on, as if you are frightened of missing a winner you will end up backing far more losers as selectivity will be compromised. I really think Strictly Silver will win but when I add in that Star Links is a superbly consistent horse who will run to his mark without doubt and Big Baz could actually be anything I have to stay out. I will definitely watch the race however and will cheer SS on for you ( as Ron's is only a fictional stake)
point taken Blue -and yes you are probably right-Star Links is a C3 winner-i don't think he's improving after all this time--just very consistent- as you say-Big Baz is no doubt better than has been seen-- but its a Big But -at the likely prices- his times do not match up with what Silver has achieved--and yes the horse he beat lto was easily beaten in a low grade handicap on sat night. I am aware that there are many other factors that may play out -pace -the track is certainly riding slower at the moment, --S S was sent off a 7/4 F before xmas in a CD grade 2 --ran a very strange race -never picked up -stayed in the rear all race....but thats racing !
Morning, a double for me today and going against the views a little, both Wolves 3.00 GEORGE FENTON and 4.00 BIG BAZ
like that first one MOG- way over priced in such a 'race'- he will go from the front-as will his stable mate in the next--whether they hang on or not is the question ...
what you going to do with it heiss? yes his form lto looks good, with Mohawk Ridge hacking up the other day- if he does well-Bonnets Vino will look handy later ! good luck- i'm going for a Gold and Silver double today!
Hawaii Five Nil is a very well handicapped horse, he is going to be better than this mark when he comes to himself. I am not sure that is today though and its a watching brief for me. Just finalising an interest in a horse for the flat season, can't let Stick and The Don have all the fun can we? Anyone else got a share in a horse?
