Said in another thread that this game is huge. If we win it we go into the game at Cardiff almost able to secure our status in the PL with a win.
I just hope we don't take as long to secure the final survival points as we did to secure the final promotion ones.
That was a long time ago, 2008? Things are different now. You may just sneak it but I cant see a thrashing.
I’m (naively) hoping So’ton have a ‘our season is already over’ combined with disdain at travelling so far north on a blustery wind ****ting Tuesday night. But, you’re right. We win and even a draw at Cardiff would put us in an amazing position with 11 games left. Added to that, we might even be in an FA Cup QF at that point too.
I'd like to think that Newcastle, WBA and Swansea at home are all decent chances of home wins. But, as you point out, history means we have to be cautious.
You and me both! I reckon 36 points and we're safe and dry. If we could somehow hit 33 after the game against Cardiff I would certainly hope it won't take us until the final day for the final 3.
Things are different for both teams now. Beware! That's all I'm saying. Jelly wants to go to the WC Finals and Long is on fire. Add to that Super Sone and we're ready to give someone a tonking.
Do you thing 36 points will be enough? There are no real relegation favourites this season and the bottom three are regularly picking up wins. I reckon 40 points will be the minimum for survival.
Agree with you there. Everyone beating everyone else at the bottom and a big gap to the top 9.Think you will escape easily though. We could argue the same thing. Making loads of chances and not converting enough. Should be a cracker!
I think the points total for survival could have nudged up a little due to the bottom 4/5 teams starting to pick up points. I think about 38 would be enough.
A lot depends on the games whereby the bottom 11 play each other. If they mix it up whereby they take points off each other, then the total needed could be less.
We're a better team now than when we got that tonking at Southampton. Davies had his only bad game of the season, our strikers were non-existent. Tuesday we'll be raring to go with two forwards who know how to put the ball in the net and Aluko available as super sub. 3 points followed by a win over Cardiff could see us close to safety. Should be a great match but if we can control Lailana we'll win it....2-1!!
We are very happy to oblige; I think you'll fine us a handful and our defence tighter - it should be a good game.
