Seriously, is this the best ever season in the Premier League?

Totally agree. Our home support is quite possibly the worst in the league. Semi-final against Man Utd and it was like a morgue, absolutely shocking. I then stood in the Stretford End for the return leg and the Man Utd home support was fantastic, certainly a hell of a lot more vocal then we were.

The Man Utd supporters barely made a sound at Old Trafford and the Mags were the same last week ........... it's the curse of the big modern stadium I'm afraid,

    morning all.
    just catching up.
    good thread this.

the thing is any one of us could pick any three teams for relegation from the bottom ten and supply the evidence to back up the argument.

none of us would be `wrong`. all the teams concerned have difficult fixtures, play each other etc and, unless a couple go on winning streaks, all will still be in the mix till the bitter end.

I must admit I can`t remember a situation like this.

I get to as many Villa home games as I do Sunderland away ones, since the in laws are all supporters and apart from West Brom, it's our closest ground. Their home support is absolutely dire. I normaly laugh about it, and it's one of the reasons that my son, after going to Villa home games with his uncle and grandad, and Sunderland away ones with me, has switched from supporting Villa to supporting the lads. It's a good while since I've been to a Sunderland home game, but if the crowd are like Villa then it's no wonder we're doing baddly there. When I was younger I used to be sure we had the best supporters in the land. What's gone wrong?

Not buying the stadium thing Smug, place was bouncing under Reid, as was St James Park under Keegan, as are many, many modern stadia.

The Germans seem to manage, in much bigger, equally modern stadiums, it's simply not the reason marra.

    both teams playing entertaining football?

if this is the case should we see an improvement in the atmosphere with an improvement in the entertainment on the pitch?

it has been dire but improving under Gus?

    just a thought.

As this is a Sunderland board, for Sunderland supporters, regarding Sunderland I assumed they'd know the Sunderland fixtures <doh>

You're not very good at this kind of thing are you ............ never mind, you're a harmless little soul who never upsets anyone <ok>

The Germans get the working class in cheap and allow them to drink and stand .......... no comparison to England imo mate.

As Pop says, the excitement of scraping out of the drop zone doesn't compare to playing mad attacking football in the top half.

But, more than that I always see the SOL as a massive ocean-going cargo vessel ............ it takes ages to get going but is unstoppable when it gets some momentum.

It will be rocking in the Cardiff game when we send them down and confirm our safety, should be lively in the Wheatsheaf anarl <laugh>

Loving this season, I think I'm enjoying better than any other prem season. I know the reid era was magical but I was reasonably young so have a much better understanding of the game now.

The battle for the title is thrilling and a ten team relegation battle where nobody is safe is even more exhilarating. What's more the way the game is being played these day I love, and I love that we're trying to play good football and are finally adapting with the time. If we go down I'll be happy going down playing the style of football we do. Best season ever!

I firmly believe the atmos has gone crap since they moved the away fans upstairs. All they had to do was move them into the corner and move our fans behind the goal. Both sets of fans goaded each other which created a fair amount of noise.
As for being the best ever EPL this season I would be inclined to agree if we had another 10 points on the board.
