It was close to the same team, but they were below par, for whatever reason. Having Aguero missing was a bonus for sure, but it is still a hell of a team they have.

How many time did they have more than 1 player in the box when they came forward? How many do they normally have in the box? I think you find there are two very different answers. I am not sure why they were not as positive as they normally are, but they were - not complaints mind though <ok>

But then again, what do you know about football? ;)

Really good point for you, I thought you pretty well matched City tactically today and were definitely worth the draw, City were poor by their standards and are missing Aguero, but you can only play what's in front of you, whatever else, you most certainly didn't deserve to lose today.<ok>

    Well Done.

An excellent result after Crimson told us that Man City losing to Chelsea was the worst possible result for us <laugh>

The crowd was fantastic! Loudest they've been for a long long time. Really responded to the way the players started and just kept going to the end. If they take that performance into the West Ham game it should be an easy 3 points.

As for the performance itself, Tettey for me is the key to getting the best out of our midfield. His defensive work is better than Johnson's (not to take anything away from Johnson today who threw himself in front of everything Man City had to offer) and he just never lets the opposition rest. I think Fer had a decent game as well, though his passing wasn't quite as good as you'd hope. It was just a great show of determination from all the players in the end, combined with some pretty wasteful Man City play. Shame we couldn't take what were some pretty decent chances. That combined with a truly awful display from the officials and a point really was a great result!

Hands up it does appear I was wrong....I did think that city would have all guns blazing after that defeat.

Great result for you guys. Well played. Wish my team showed that sort of resilience against City. Best of luck with the rest of the season.

We took advantage of a poor performance by Man C with a well balanced approach helped by how MC play.

Thats 2 really good performances in a row (I'm not counting Hull because it wasn't really good), I know that may sound sarcastic but we've upped the performance levels in those 2 games in both dogged resiliance and attacking intent in two very different games.

Agreed. The Cardiff performance was great other than the result. We looked like a team that wanted to play and wanted to win which hasn't always been the case this season. And today we managed to have attacking intent while holding that strong defensive formation that really gave MC little space to play through. Add to that the commitment from today and we should be getting the points we need. I really hope we don''t regress!

<laugh> They weren't on the beach Dave, just poor and below par (as of course is proven by the result). <ok>

A well earned, unexpected, and hard fought for point against Man City today and this match-thread is as quiet as a church mouse tonight...<laugh>

Had you have lost by one goal today this thread would have been riddled with the Hughton-Outers (you know who you are), and gone to 25 pages and counting...

Maybe the Norwich 606ers have better things to do on a Saturday night other than sit on this forum?

Cue the predictable inbreeding/animal bothering responses from the ippos.

It was a stirring performance against one of the best club sides on earth, the commitment and desire was exactly what we have been caling for and the team selection bang on.

Spot on and it's definitely coincided with Tettey's return. I know he was great earlier in the season, but I hadn't appreciated how much his dynamism makes a difference and gets the best out of Fer. I hope Howson's return has a similar impact.

Wouldn't it be lovely to have a first choice eleven for a run of games. I know every team gets injuries and this has been well discussed, but we just don't have the strength in depth (nor could we be expected to - like many of the lower Prem teams) to call on if one or two key players get injured at the same time, as in Pilks, Tettey and Howson <yikes>
