Decent article in the HDM today about the future of youth development. Doesn't sound like the actions of someone about to walk away from the club
http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull...tml?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter Hull City plan to unearth âhome-grownâ stars of the future by investing heavily in youth development By Hull Daily Mail | Posted: February 06, 2014 Investing: Ehab and Assem Allam. Hull City owners Assem and Ehab Allam have plans for long-term future growth of the clubâs youth policy Comments (2) Hull City are preparing to revamp their entire youth development structure in a bid to unearth more home-grown talent, the Mail understands. The Tigers are currently operating as a Category Three club under the four-tier academy structure introduced by the FA as part of its Elite Player Performance Plan. It means City's youths play in the Football League Youth Alliance North East Conference against non-league outfits like Grimsby and Lincoln. City officials are concerned the lower level of competition is stifling the development of their promising youngsters and are trying to achieve Category Two status, meaning they would face the likes of Leeds and Huddersfield in the Professional Development League. The teams are predominantly based at a site on County Road North, but the Mail understands discussions have taken place with Bishop Burton College with a view to moving all the youth teams to their campus. The move would see the College supply the full-time players with access to educational courses, which the club is obliged to provide, as well as giving them use of their state-of-the-art sports facilities. Bishop Burton has two full-size 3G pitches and has lodged a planning application to create two further grass pitches on its site. However, if City are to achieve their aim of reaching Category Two status they will need access to a covered 3G all-weather pitch. Funding has been guaranteed for the project by owners Assem and Ehab Allam, but its location is still to be decided. The five-a-side pitches at the KC Stadium have been mooted as a possible venue, but that would depend on planning approval from Hull City Council.
Cheers Ben. About time, this should already have been in full swing, about 10 years ago. Absolutely huge catchment area to get youths from, but it's not just our youth teams facilities and opposition that need looking at, we need to get coaches out to all the schools and start developing them early.
Agreed. I think that we are lucky that we have Steve Bruce. Never have an owner and manager had such a close bond since say Adam Pearson and Peter Taylor ? We have such much talent in this area that we need to keep. Our best kids should be offered to say North Ferriby (if they gain promotion to the skrill premier) as that league would be so much better than the rubbish reserve league we are in at the moment. We pay and NFU play. Win win situation for all. imo. Why ? You so thick you cannot bring up the HDM online ?
Should have been set up years ago. If a club is to stand any chance of being self sufficient, and self sustaining, it needs to bring young player through so they can be sold on.
