Morning Folks, Last night Phil Hay was getting very excited. Excited that a new development was taking place with the together Leeds consortium, and was expecting a statement from Mike Farnan. At 10.00pm, the statement came. Here it is folks!!! "We have watched the events of the last week with considerable interest. We remain committed to delivering a fully-funded, sustainable, long-term plan, to rebuild Leeds United FC and restore it to its rightful place in English football. "We have assembled a team of highly regarded individuals and advisors who have substantial reputations in football and are ready to move quickly to resolve all outstanding issues. "The commitment and determination shown by Andrew Flowers has made us more determined not to walk away. Together our group can and will deliver a vision that has at its heart the club we all cherish. "We have reached out to GFH with every intention of demonstrating that this is a bid backed by credible Leeds, Yorkshire and footballing people that offers them an acceptable solution and the club and its supporters a dynamic future. “In the best interests of Leeds United, our offer of constructive dialogue will remain open. We now await GFH’s response and will look forward to finding a constructive, embracing solution to ensure that the distractions of this prolonged uncertainty can be put behind the club and the focus return to football.” Well, its a good thing I'm sitting down, cos I'm sooooo excited. How can one statement with so many words, say so little? There is so spin there, Shane Warne would be proud! Farnan released that statement thinking 'THAT'LL KEEP THE LEEDS FANS QUIET FOR A WHILE' What next? Let them eat cake (por Yorkshire Pud in our case) I don't think so!!! Farnan, Haigh and Co have been scrambling around between the six or seven of em raising £25m to try and match the 25m which is on offer from Cellino. Cellino could then click his fingers, and come back with another 5m Farnan's statement set alarm bells ringing in my head. It kinda reminds me of the lies and spin we have had to endure over the last 10 years. It is clear that even if Together Leeds and Haigh can forge a successful alliance, at best our financial backing looks bleak!!! Agree or not? What I want to hear is. If I become owner of Leeds Utd, I will i) Invest x amount for transfers ii) My vision moving forward is iii) Our stability is ... iv) Long term aim v) And this is how we are going to do it. Over to you
Good morning all. Spot on Elland. We don't need a second gfh. Let's just hope for the sake of the club, they get someone very very quickly or the football could become the least of our worries
Morning Elland, Morning all, I started reading this statement and the first thing I thought was it would be interesting to put this statement side by side to the one GFH issued when they first took over. They have scratched around trying to find £25m how on earth they will have the funds to plug the holes and buy the players we need after that is beyond me. Too many cooks?
Fook 'em too little and too late and besides that they haven't got a pot to piss in. They may be fans but the club needs cash and that means enough for the purchase price, stabalising the finances and balance sheet by paying off the outstanding loans, buying back ER and TA, investing cash into the academy and obviously backing the manager. £100m and not having a whip round to get £17m to £25m then not having enough to pay wages. Administration loom guys unless the Italian takes over and because of the reaction he's had so far he could always spit his dummy out and fook off too.
Good morning from a damp Bardsey well at least were not flooded thats all we need now at ER THAT and the plague bur perhaps we have had that for years with BATES.My take on this fiasco rival groups have had plenty of time to put in an offer its only since a serious buyer has entered the ring that things have suddenly taken a more urgent aspect. I feel very sorry for BM but no man is bigger than the club even Cellino lets hope he has learned from his first mistake don't take us for fools only BATES got away with that What we need is substantial investment and stability will we get it from CELLINO I doubt it but he is definitely in it for the long term so lets wish him all the best don't like it but we have to accept it mike
Like you Leeds60 I have my doubts about Cellino but I see it as a gamble I would accept. Another 1,2,3 years with GFH v2.0 languishing mid table in the Championship or an owner that seems to want instant success but who is as unpredictable as they come. His money might get us promoted or his way of doing things might keep us rooted in this division. He has made his millions like him or hate him he has done something right he can't be as stupid as some believe, he is not getting any younger he has seen the passion at Leeds UTD maybe he will do things just a little different here
The complete mismanagement of the club under the stewardship of GFH Capital beggars belief, and I include haigh in this as he is a director of GFH. They came in originally to facilitate a takeover, but the original investor saw problems and also refused to deal with Bates so pulled out. GFH thought it was a quick way to make money so took a gamble that they buy the club, and stabalise finances and move it on as soon as possible. All the time this was going on they have told us lies and all for the better future of the club bollox. Haigh thinks to himself, hang on I might like to have a go at this and he starts talking bollox too to the fans as he hopes to enhance his bank account and his own vanity. Haigh ropes in Flowers and they hatch a nice plan which blows up in their faces and that sets alarm bells ringing. Enter the Italian and the next sorry chapter starts to take shape with no winners just a massive amount of losers and if its not resolved in hours/days the club will go into administration yet again and all because of greed, and vanity
Bo positive Doc. The club could still revert back to Bates ownership if all else fails as they have next instalment due to him on 15th. So all is not lost
Morning everybody, must admit, after reading the statement last night, for the first time I was hoping that Cellino would get things finalized. At least he has the money to put where his mouth is!!!
Morning all I've not managed to get on much since the weekend, and I see things are just as confused as they were then! Just working on the match thread so we can turn at least part of our attention to football matters, and after that spectacular 5-1 result on Saturday, do we dare to be upbeat????

The ground, Thorpe arch - not ours The players - a few worth saving Sponsors have already done a runner. Even Flamingo Land think they've been taken for a ride. The club and the supporters. Through thick n thin pal, marching on together, but what good is it doing with us henaraging money each month. Surely its worth the risk
