Thank you Sir Mike for 18 months of invigorating football which delivered our first major trophy and our second highest ever League position. Winning the League Cup at Wembley, beating Valencia at the Mestalla, knocking Manchester United out of the FA Cup at Old Trafford, beating Chelsea the reigning European Champions at Stamford Bridge, knocking Liverpool out of the FA Cup at Anfield, beating Arsenal at The Emirates â just some of the highlights of your brief reign at The Liberty. All good things come to an end â and what a disappointing way it has ended. Disappointments along the way included defeat to the Redtits and the constatnt rumblings behind the scenes - but there have been many more highs than lows. Good luck to you sir
A gentleman. I think last season was the pinnacle for us under the best bloke who'll ever be associated with us. Who knows, without all those injuries perhaps we could have done something special this season also. Just like to add; Chico - £2m (now worth £5m +) Michu - £2m (now worth £20m +) Canas - free (worth £3-5m of anybody's money) Pozuelo - £500k (now worth £2m + ....will improve further) Bony - £12m (scored 16gls in 32 games already...including goals vs Utd, City and Spurs....looks £20m+ to me) Hernandez - £5m (looks the part to most of us) Shelvey - £5.5m (worth that at least, might improve further) Ben Davies - spotted in youth team and chucked in the deep end, put faith in him from day 1 (now worth £5m +) Great legacy.
I do believe its time we had people on the board, outside contractors even, who know more about running a football club
Yes indeed , thanks for classing the place up Mr.laudrup. I realise you knew you should have probably left when the board stabbed you in the back firing your agent who helped bring in good players in general , but thanks for staying for the sake of the team . Even as the back stabbing continued you stayed on for the sake of the team , wish I could say the same for the mickey mouse board you had to deal with .Enjoy the 4 million , you earned every £ having to deal with amateurs at the controls . Good luck sir , hope you finally find a team that gives you free reign , you didn't have it with us , cheers
Like we do with all departing managers we say Thank you for your efforts and its a shame it was not good enough. good luck in your next venture...
I think we also need the other side of this argument... Under Laudrup we have shown bottom-of-the-table form since the CC cup last season. He has shown a clear inability to motivate the team, organise the midfield, pick the best players... the list goes on. Laudrup the player was world-class, but Laudrup the manager is a pale shadow of that. The board had to do something, otherwise we'd have probably sunk to relegation. I hope Garry Monk can inspire a spark of pride in the team - something that has been singularly missing most of this season.
Hear hear pgf good luck laudrup, not sure about the timing with this just have to cross everything, where is weighorst tho as we have said that monk and curtis are taking Care of things at present
Agree but also the players need to front up on the pitch. We could all see that it wasn't rosy but I do think the players need to share responsibility. I believe ML has moved us forward and hope that the board haven't run out of luck
You mean like Newcastle of last season, who are a bigger club, with a bigger squad, yet suffered very similar issues with a horrid injury list, and only just avoided relegation themselves, and look what happened to them by sticking with their manager. Reality seems to escape some people, that think we, little Swansea City should have been able to cope any better, than teams like Newcastle, Fulham, Liverpool even in recent years. Or the board who brought in the likes of N'Gog, Emnes and a few youth players in the January transfer window, instead of any player that could actually do anything to turn our fortunes around.
That's the biggest shame Dai....that they took this long to make the decision! In hindsight I wish it had been a lot sooner, not that I would've agreed with it then either. Would've given the new guy some time. Anyway, I agree with PGF, Terror and others that ML has lifted us to new levels and I'll always be grateful, and wish him well wherever he ends up.
Plenty threads for you to continue your negative anti- laudrup rubbish, so leave this thread alone please.
Yes wish him all the very best where ever he goes some great moments last season, shame it had to end like this!...............
