With the return of Brady, Livermore being once again eligible, and with a little luck Aluko on the bench, who would you like to see start on Saturday? I would like to see; Harper Rosie McShane Davies Figgy Elmo Thudd Livermore Brady Long Jelly Subs: Jak Bruce Aluko Fryatt Sagbo Boyd Koren Although I expect; Harper McShane Bruce Davies Elmo Thudd Livermore Meyler Figgy Long Jelly Subs: Jak Brady Faye Fryatt Sagbo Boyd Koren
We lose 1-0 with a back 3. We win or draw with a back four. Harper Rosenior - McShane - Davies - Figueroa Elmo - Livermore - Huddlestone - Brady Jelavic - Long
I agree, I would go with this, Rossy needs to play, and 442 suits us better than 352 at the moment with Chessy out. EDIT: Harsh on Meyler who was very good on Saturday, but can bring him on if Brady tires, or we need to protect a winning position.
I fear a back 3 of bruce and mcshane will capitulate against Johnson/borini & possibly that other guy
How long before we see something similar to; McG McShane Bruce Davies Elmo Thudd Livermore Brady Aluko Long Jelly I could see the majority of next season being pretty much that team with the possible exception of Meyler for Livermore (depending on if we sign him!)
On a more serious note For next season we will be signing a new centre back surely, plus there's chester
Whilst I hope we do get the 3 points on Saturday, as we desperately need points and require 5 more wins, also as somebody has pointed out our away games are horrendous. I thought I would ask how Hull is, I have not been there for years, I went to Hull University in the 70s and had a great time. The pubs I liked were, apologies if I get the names wrong, The George, in a wonderful place name, Land of Green Ginger. Also the White Harte, where for a while it had a men only bar, long since gone, there was one other pub whose name I cannot remember but iirc it was opposite a book shop and was a completely round building. During closing time we could get a drink on the ferry that went between Hull and ?New Amsterdam, it was a paddle steamer and the stokers were quite happy to let some pissed students put coal in the boiler. I also recall an all night bakery where an Arnetts Fadge a sort of big bun with neat and gravy in it. The football team was never up to much when I was there, I went a few times, it was next to a railway station/line? Boothferry Park? The two rugby league teams held most peoples affection, I went to a few games but for Durham lads it was football and Rugby Union and I could never get away with league.
Harps Rosey Davies Macca Fig Elmo Thudd Livermore Brady Jela Long 1-1 on 75 mins, Aluko for Brady, 2-1 win.
The 442 is probably the way to go. If there are still worries about Figgy, you could always play Rosie at LB like before - though it would mean perhaps Sagbo on the right of midfield. (Or even a 4312, with Brady playing behind the strikers, and infront of Meyler, Thudd + Livermore). Also, just throwing this out there - what about Livermore in for Thudd? Meyler and Livermore have largely played better recently, go with form - give Thudd a bit of a kick? I probably wouldn't do it, but it is something to think about.
Hull as I'm sure you're aware recently won the city of culture 2017 bid which after the huge success london/derry accumolated after their 2013 city of culture success, hull is set for great things We are of few cities in the UK to have a marina, which is set to be a big feature of culture success, (at the minute the whole area around there is ridiculously cut off from the city centre due to a major dual carriageway) We have a fabulous old town full of architecture as you know, a few of the pubs you listed are still going today, there's been a thriving metropolitan rejuvenation of the princess avenue area full of 'trendy' bars/restaurants, a beautiful sea life centre that has won various awards as well as the relatively new shopping centre st stephens It has a great music/art culture which is going to thrive as well as brilliant musuems such as the william wilberforce house It's really not as bad as most make out.. and hopefully in the next 5 years we thrive and expand into an even greater city Obviously boothferry park closed and got demolished and we moved into the magnificent kc stadium (which first match was against your lot), over a decade ago now, how time has flown, two top flight rugby league clubs but that's not my forte at all (Balls, forgot to quote)
Agreed on the one change from the Spurs game but it could well be Brady who makes way for Livermore. Twt.
Hopefully McShane keeps his spot ahead of Bruce Jnr as I'm about to transfer him in for a bench role in my fantasy football team. Might need him to play if Vlaar misses out for Villa.
Fig needs to be on the bench. He has become error prone in the last two months and Johnson will eat him alive. I'd move Rossy over in the 4 with Davies covering him inside and Boyd at LW as Brady fades too quickly. Harper Macca Bruce Davies Rosenior Elmo Livermore Thudd Boyd Long Jelavic Jak Faye Figgy Meyler Koren Sagbo Brady (Aluko instead of Figgy if fit)
McShane is not a fullback, even if he played there for us before. He can't cross, isn't the best passer and can't run with the ball. He's a centre back who's playing well in his primary position, no point moving him somewhere he's not as good just to drop someone else. Likewise Rosenior is much better on the right, where he can cross from the flank, than the left where he has to stop and cut to his preferred foot.
Well thank you for the advice. I wasn't aware of any of that. Perhaps you'd like to advise me what the score will be tomorrow while you're at it. Any other pearls of wisdom since you are so bloody omniscient
To be fair, Coat has a point. Whenever the legend has played fullback, suffice to say, he has been woeful. Not a good idea.
