Ian --nobody took offence -and none given--chill man--you just got carried away with an enthusiastic idea --as blue says , the kudos is king--no money can buy that .We all have differing opinions on many levels, but the common denominator is the love of racing, and the taking of money Off the bookmaker. There are enough 'mug' punters elsewhere for them to make a tidy profit--on here we are all trying to re dress the balance a little....it also happens to be the friendliest, non judgemental forum about--thanks to great mods and self restraint/respect of the users.

Cor blimey the idea is to take money from those bookie chappies not each other.

Anyway morning troops and down to brass tacks. What do the great brains know about a Flat jockey titled ‘Natalie Hambling-Yates’?!? I see that she rides my old fave, FRATELLINO, in the 6 furlong handicap on Southwell Sands this afternoon (3.40). Had it been a race in the NH sphere I wouldn’t have been that bothered about the pilot because one NH saddle monkey is rather like another (as they say around my way ‘NH saddle monkeys are rather like buses. Don’t worry if one doesn’t turn up as there will be another along in a few minutes) but on the level, of course, jockeyship is so much more important especially in a sprint heat where events can be decided in the splitest of split seconds. I’m impressed that she’s a double barrelled but people can the old girl ride???

Anyway back to Fratellino he races here off just 84 having been as high as 100 a year ago when he was placed in events as elevated as Listed class. Also ran a respectable race in that grade as recently as November. Out of form in his last 4 but a return to 6 furlongs and a huge drop in his perch could see him competitive off just 84 at a whopping quote of 33/1. The jockey does though concern me even with her 7 pounds allowance.

Good luck all.

I have not accused you of trying to take money from anyone and nor was I offended by a perfectly reasonable suggestion, I was simply offering my view in disagreement with it. If you look at the timing of the posts you will see that your two and mine came virtually at the same time within one minute of each other and as mine had been open whilst being composed I had not seen you acknowledge to Ron that you felt it a bad idea yourself on reflection. I also don't think I could be accused of being cliquey on here which seems to be implied by the term 'close knit friends' as I do not feel there is any poster I respond to more than any other as far as I am aware. The idea that I would like or have any preference that you should leave the forum is also saddening as clearly its for everyone and the more regular posters it attracts the better it will be. For the record however Ian, and not that what I think should matter but I am very pleased you have joined (I did say hello the other day I think) along with a couple of others such as Boil and Mark who look as though they intend stick around and contribute.

Should I have inadvertently caused you to feel put upon for a reasonable suggestion by passing on my view I do apologise, I myself love the debates and points of view firing around on here and enjoy them being put with conviction but I really dislike personal remarks and a lack of consideration for others so if I have come across in that way I am sorry and as far as I am concerned there is no harm done in anything you have posted, even the post with the points I felt the need to reply to above as I have not been offended by them but felt I should reply.

3 of Channel 4's televised races on Saturday are reopened due to insufficient entries - Newbury's Game Spirit Chase (Grade 2) plus Warwick's Listed Mares Hurdle and the Grade 2 Kingmaker Chase. It's not like connections would be wanting to get a run into their festival horses or anything <doh>

Hi Bluesky ,,

Thank you for your reply I think a misunderstanding all round , I think texts and messages can be read and interpreted in different context to what they are really to be.
I am the last one to offend anyone and like yourself that's why I apologised , so lets put it behind us and hopefully provide an excellent forum and community , good luck and look forward to chatting soon.

Has anyone tried this, Take Rons 3 bets today, if he stakes 2 points on the first selection and say it lost, then place 3 points on the next and that won, put all the returns on the 3rd bet, if it wins then go back to the next bet at 2 points. If it lost then the 4th bet say tomorrow put now 4 points and just keep scaling up until 2 win together. If say 20 selections were made before 2 won together, both won say at 5/2, you used 189 points and with 20 points going on the double, the total returns are 245 minus 189 used equals 56 profit. Like said, I dont know if anyone tried this but it does turn a poor spell into strong profit and takes the pressure of one bet one return.

All sounds abit confusing and really could end up spending a lot of money as there is no certainty of 2 doubles coming in, ending up on a profit! I only bet for a bit of fun and really not to make money (as Im sure the majority do)- when I do win which everyone likes. I do go out for dinner, buy a takeaway, buy my little boy as present etc...- saying that it is a good idea if you have the money and are looking to make money (but that is a dangerous road to go on) but not really for me.

Hardly, inspiring then Reebs. Maybe today will be the old girls day though. Have had a tiny each-way tickle on FRATELLINO in the hope that he returns to some sort of form. If at the same level as this time last year allied to the fact that he is now 16 lbs ‘lighter’ he’d have a major chance if the old boy does return to form.

I see that Mr Henderson, people, is saying he may give West Wizard the rest of the term off so as to preserve his ‘novice’ status for 2014/15. Cor blimey is it to early to say the forum’s favourite will win the first 2 races of the 2015 Cheltenham Festival?!? West Wizard (Supreme) and Kentucky Hyden (Arkle)?!?

Its one double, you could in theory have maybe 30 selections before two winners occur and still make profit, just wanting to know if anyone has heard of or tried it based on their own selections.

Similar system has done the rounds for many years relating to roulette - problem with this being if you experience a long losing run then eventually your next bet will exceed the house limit and they will refuse the bet. Attributed to horse racing you will simply run out of bankroll (i'm sure the bookie will still be willing to accept the larger bets if you've had 20 losing bets in a row!!). Personally it takes the enjoyment out of the spectacle but different systems are always intriguing to monitor - as yours is.
