Tim Hartley said: âMalky Mackay made a huge contribution during his time at Cardiff City, culminating in promotion to the Premier League. âHe had a fantastic rapport with Bluebirds fans and was undoubtedly one of the most popular managers in the clubâs history. So we thought it was appropriate that Malky should be invited to become an honorary member of the Trust. Weâre delighted that Malky has accepted that invitation.â http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/former-cardiff-city-boss-malky-6661757 The fans move on but the supporters trust is still living in the past.
Most successful City manager for a long while so I agree that he deserves some sort of recognition for that. Might be to spite Tan?
They should be getting their few members to support OGS and not live in the past, if this was done to spite Tan they need to grow up. Malky is history if he has any dignity he would walk away quietly not put more pressure on OGS. He has lost my trust.
Agree with that. It can't help the current manager having the ghost of his previous hanging around. Has Tan paid him his compensation yet?
Quite unbelieveable, do these people think at all. Tan is blamed for all and sundry and yet we have this happening. The BU went from supporting a return to blue to " we want Tan out", now we have the supporters trust putting the boot in and trying to unsettle things, all this during a critical relagation battle. No wonder Tan came out with "Ole is a better manager than Malky "
These idiots are typical of people stuck in the past and bow to nostalgia, they are just ****estirring numpties who have nothing better to do than muster at a city road workingmans club and try and organise the next Blue is the colour march, with brass band et al.
Pretty blind in my opinion. MM got us promoted from a poor championship and was failing in the premiership. VT got MM into Cardiff and invested 150+ million. Sorry MM is playing the injured party when he was actually failing to deliver. He lost me when he started bleating to the press.
I agree with that 100%. Also the scale of the Cornelius **** up is now there for everyone to see. It's a strange one with MM. He got us promoted and some excellent results in the PL with a squad lacking quality in attacking positions BUT the lack of quality was all his fault due to the massive budget he wasted 40-60% of.
Malky succeeded at a level with which he was comfortable. He was an excellent Championship manager who did the business for us within the framework of that division and deservedly got the accolades for it. This season, he was asked to step up to the plate at Premier level. That's not just about being able to motivate players under his charge against the vastly superior quality teams we would face, it's about judgement at the highest level in the game. His (and Moody's) player aquisition record did not stack up once he hit the big time. You'd think it would be easy when you've got a virtually open chequebook, and that could be half his problem. Commiting something like £25M including contractual obligations on Brayford, Cornelius and Odemwingie for a start was clear evidence (eventually) that he had some serious flaws. They were back-burnered for convenience until it could be hidden no more. The praises were being sung by the media for the excellent job he was doing, and that tended to conceal the rest of the iceberg under the surface for a long time. Malky played the part of the victim so well, the same media jumped on the anti Tan bandwagon in support of Malky and the rest is history. Tan would not be moved from his convictions and acted accordingly. Since then, a flurry of evidence that Malky's position was untenable have come to the fore. Frankly the attempts by him in soliciting the media to play the victim in all this stink to high heaven. There's no doubt in my mind that he leaked that email.
Tan's demand that he resign or be sacked certainly makes more sense with hindsight. I'm sure that MM leaked that email, I've said it on here before but he'd make an excellent politician if the manager job offers don't come flooding in.
I believe this to be a consice approval of the situation. How much exactly is hidden from us who knows, but I think you have much of it covered in that post Sparkey.
Tan must accept he should have got some experienced football guru to help Mackay pre season. The majority of his signings were laughable.
have to agree, he is an excellent manager at championship level but was average at PL level. the media touted him to walk straight into another PL job but that was never going to happen, he's got alot to learn but he will be high on the list of any championship chairmans list..........
It's been said before that some managers are better without money. DJ and MM did good jobs for us with nothing but struggled when any degree of cash became available. For the life of me, I still can't understand how Lim came out of this unscathed.
Some just can't move on - Malky's gone and I wish it had been sooner. He was no saint, but did a great fist pump and fawned over the fans. His use of the media to make it seem like he was unjustifiably criticised and sacked was crude. Unfortunately the whole affair can not be seen by some except through their Tan-hating spectacles - supporting Malky is just a way of protesting about the rebrand / colour red. It's all become well boring - it's got to the point where it's a good day for some fans if we lose, but the fans wear blue and sing pro blue or Malky songs. Quite childish and surreal really. I don't think the continual moaning and whinging about Tan and the shirt colour is helping the atmosphere in the stadium at all - it seems to be dragging us down. We seem to have lost the will to unite and just support the boys - and Bellamy gets flack from some for pointing out what a moaning bunch of ******* some of our fans have become. They should read his book, he is quite consistent in his opinions about football fans from different clubs (which is why he avoided some clubs when he had the chance to go there - he had no respect for their fans). I can see where he is coming from: I used to be proud of our support, at times now it makes me angry. We should be grateful for what we've got, and the team need all the support we can give them over the next three months. Stop being drama queens, put the side issues away please - we should be concentrating all our energies on helping the club to stay up, not wasting our breath and energy on (what I believe) is a disgraced manager.
iggypop, Good points there but I think you will find that most if not all the Cardiff posters on this board are 100% behind the Club. It's the Club that is most important not the owner. manager or players but the Club.
Despite its moments, this board is a sanctuary of sensible (perhaps older?) heads You ever clicked on the comments section of a CCFC facebook post? They're the ones I worry about, it's embarrassing, it genuinely makes me cringe.
