Just to clear this up. In 4-3-3 Lallana plays right wing and Davis plays on the right of the midfield three. In 4-2-3-1 Lallana plays behind the striker and Davis plays on the right. Go on whoscored and look at the match reports. It will have an average player positions chart for each game if you don't believe me. Boruc Clyne Fonte Yoshida Shaw Cork Schneiderlin Davis Lallana Rodriguez Lambert Davis Hooiveld Chambers Wanyama Ward-Prowse Guly Gallagher
Just play your best right back. They don't really boot it long much to Arnautovic. If you look at the stats he's only winning 0.6 of an aerial per game. Earlier in the season Clyne played and we only conceded that freak Begovic goal. Stoke didn't go long much either. Arnautovic didn't win an aerial in the stats for that game. Clyne and Fonte didn't either, which suggests they only go long down the middle to Crouch and to Walters on the right. Assuming you aren't purely being sarcastic, I meant Davis is the right central midfielder. Lallana is on the right of the front three in 4-3-3. I realise I come across as overly serious in this post, I don't mean to . Generally Lallana gives away the formation. He's everywhere behind the striker in 4-2-3-1 but sticks mainly on the right in 4-3-3
Just to add, I find Saints playing formation very fluid indeed. When you look at heat maps for individual players, especially the front 4, they are all over the place. Adam seems to go everywhere. I bet they're a right bugger to mark.
15:00 Southampton v Stoke :- Referee :- Craig Pawson : Assistants - S Ledger & P Bankes : 4th Official - D Whitestone This Referee is a new name for me.
So was Robert Madley when he took charge of Saints v West Brom last season. Fortunately neither Gaston or Fox will be around to be sent off this time.
Boruc, Clyne, Fonte, Yoshida, Shaw, Schneiderlin, Cork, Davis, Lallana, Rodriguez, Lambert. Subs: Davis, Chambers, Hooiveld, Guly, Ward-Prowse, Wanyama, Gallagher I would understand if Poch wanted to play Victor in the middle to combat their physicality, but Cork's form is phenomenal.
I would play Cork to start and then when we are two nil up with 30 minutes to go, give big Vic another half hour game time, but swap him for Davis. This would then be the ideal option to see if the three who cause all the selection headaches could play together. yours, MP
The only way to defend against our front 3 is for the defenders to mark a zone, which is a nightmare for defenders as they normally do not play this. Also add that JRod and Adam like running at defenders I am suprised by the lack of free kicks we win around the box. Im pretty sure the reason why an old fox like Lambert can find so much space in the hole is because of all the hard work that Adam and JRod do moving the defence around
To be honest, I was taking the mick slightly, but that was because I was staring at your words and couldn't make what you were implying. Now that I've come back to read up the thread I see it immediately. Don't know why I couldn't get it before, as it's as clear as day now. What's the saying..? My bad.
