Good actor. He sure looked a lot older than 46.

    RIP

He was a pretty good actor.

Sadly it sounds like another actor overdosing. I'm not surprised, but this seems to happen all the time.

I rarely post when somebody dies... but this is really really sad news. He was one hell of an actor and had a huge career still ahead of him..

Any drug related death for someone who has a reason to live is a waste.

Not familiar with the name so IMDB'd him. Looks vaguely familiar but not watched anything he's been in.

Capote was something I wouldn't mind seeing. Nothing else holds a lot of interest to me though.

    RIP

He's always looked in his 40s to me.

Off the top of the kopf, Lewbowski was my favourite film he appeared in.

    Don't know him but RIP.

Drugs or not, a second chance is generally a welcome gift.

Very good actor imo. Loved his films. Like Steve Buscemi anything he was in was worth the watch. I see people addicted to hard drugs in my line of work and I always think it's just sad and a waste of a life. Feel sorry for the family/kids. Just say no.

Surprised a few folk haven't heard of him. From Wiki:

Hoffman began his acting career in 1991, and the following year started to appear in films. He gradually gained recognition for his supporting work in a series of notable films, including Scent of a Woman (1992), Twister (1996), Boogie Nights (1997), The Big Lebowski (1998), Patch Adams (1998), Magnolia (1999), The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999), Almost Famous (2000), Red Dragon (2002), 25th Hour (2002), Punch-Drunk Love (2002) and Cold Mountain (2003).

I find it hard to believe he was only 41/42 when he filmed The Boat That Rocked.

Are we sure he was only 46, or was he 'doing a Nigerian footballer'?

Just one of those faces, I guess - plus some hard living obviously.

He was playing a schoolboy at 25...

It's his kids I feel sorry for, his selfish actions have denied them a parent from this point forwards.
