Lee Cattermole has put his Sunderland future under threat â after turning down a move to Stoke City, writes Alan Nixon of the Sunday People. The midfielder refused to budge in a £5million switch after the Black Cats would not give him a pay-off. Cattermole is under contract on £45,000-a-week for the next couple of seasons, but the 25-year-old would not make the switch to the Potters without a golden handshake. The decision annoyed boss Gus Poyet, who left Cattermole out of yesterdayâs 3-0 win at Newcastle and may sideline him for a long time. Cattermoleâs agent tried to broker a deal in the final hours of the window, but the player dug in his heels.
Gus had a press conference yesterday, clearly stating, when it looked like Catts was going, that he didn't want him to and it would be a loss to the team. If this is bullshit, Catts wants to sue the ****ers, cos **** like this turns fans against players.
Heres another one:- Napoli tried to sign Lee Catermole - but Rafa Benitez couldn't get the deal done 01 February 2014 10:30 PM By Clive Hetherington Sunderland's Lee Catermole could have been playing on the continent, if Rafa Benitez had managed to get his own way on deadline day Catt out of the bag: Napoli secretly tried to sign Lee Cattermole Napoli manager Rafa Benitez has failed in an attempt to land Sunderland midfielder Lee Cattermole. Stoke’s £5million move for 25-year-old Cattermole broke down hours before Friday’s transfer deadline. That was after Benitez (right), who tried to sign him when he was in charge at Liverpool, had enquired. Cattermole’s long-term future remains uncertain after Black Cats boss Gus Poyet returned to former club Brighton to capture £3m midfielder Liam Bridcutt, 24. Steve Bruce took Cattermole to Wearside from Wigan for £6m four-and-a-half years ago and made him skipper. But Paolo Di Canio, handed the armband to John O’Shea.
