Assistant boss Kevin Bond admitted same as the reason why the player came off in the very first minute of the exciting 3-3 draw with Burnley that keeps the Championship race wide open. Weâre not used to conceding goals like that. âBut although weâve lost someone who scored us a lot of goals (Charlie Austin) weâve scored three that is pleasing.â
QPR wait for news on Phillips ankle injury Soccer - FIFA World Cup 2014 Qualifier - Europe Group A - Scotland v Serbia - Hampden Park 01/02/2014 By David McIntyre QPR are assessing an ankle injury suffered by Matt Phillips during the 3-3 draw against promotion rivals Burnley. Phillips went off after five minutes at Loftus Road after appearing to fall awkwardly and there are fears he has sustained ligament damage. “It’s difficult at the moment as we’ve lost Charlie Austin and then Matt went off,” said Rangers’ assistant manager Kevin Bond. “He rolled over on his ankle. We haven’t had a chance to assess it and don’t know if it’s ligament damage, but it was obviously significant enough for him to have to come off.” Rangers fell behind against the Clarets. Rangers fell behind against the Clarets. Rangers have struggled in front of goal this season and have relied on a rock-solid defence. Yet they found the net three times against third-placed Burnley – despite being without their injured top scorer Austin - and conceded three sloppy goals. The R’s retained second place thanks to a 79th-minute equaliser by loan signing Modibo Maiga, who scored on his debut along with Kevin Doyle. Bond said: “That wasn’t like us – scoring three at home and conceding three “But I thought Kevin was excellent and scored and then Maiga came on and got one. “What you know you’re going to get with Kevin Doyle and Andrew Johnson is a stint – they’ve got the work-rate and are going to run. “We need that. We need the front men to work hard and for them to score will hopefully do them the world of good.”
This guy seems legit: @hillmania 40m Matty Philips out 8-10 weeks. No break but ligament damage. Another massive blow for us Christ
Bad news but Junior did well and was very unlucky not to get a corner in the dying minutes. He also provided the assist for the goal after considerable determination on his part. Hopefully he can build on that.
Come on guys, lighten up ffs. I had no malice in my comment, nor would I ever do so or wish a bad injury to any player...or human for that matter. Its bad luck for the boy Austin and terrible news for you and now with your Phillips being ruled out. Sorry if I agitated you with my post, it was not my intention just a tongue in cheek remark. A LOT worse going on over on our board from certain posters I don't need to name lol cheers
