Whole team was superb, but Colback or Bardo probably, if we had to pick. For me, Altidore again showed he is a decent player, and more than anything I want the lad to get a goal, I really thought he was gonna when he got through on Krul. He will be getting my vocal backing, big time, to try and help him get going, why don't we ALL get on his side. 5-1 on aggregate for the season. Suck me off man!
I thought the couple of scummers who came on for them waving season tickets were quite sharp - easily their best players
I love the fact he and Ki are confident enough to stop with the ball when running at pace, change direction and sprint off again.
How the **** he manages to do a defender with his back to him god only knows, that little move is genius and executes it so well.
I thought Johnson, he got another goal by being just in the right place and that shimmy in their box! You recall? ...where he wove past 3, almost 4 players that was worthy of a goal just for the sheer skill and guile ...on the other hand, some of his dead balls were a bit crap-like. However, for that moment of brilliance that silenced the home crowd as he all-but scored the Goal of the Season. And all that from a chance out of nothing/wide ball to the flank. What I love about Johnson is that he's exactly what Sunderland have been missing since Bent/Jones in their respective hay day. Namely, someone for defenders to **** themselves about when he gets the ball because he has that 'extra' to create chances and to score goals. Long may his purple patch continue. To back up the team effort, no one played badly;- Bardsley: nuetralised their left flank, got foward and was a potent threat when he did. Colback: our new attacking midfielder? So great to see Colback in bouyant mood. I guess that's what we want out of the lad when he's playing for a Wembley Final. Alonso: was probably motm match after 45 mins and continued to play well and I'm so pleased we seem to have found a left back in the first half of 21st Century Borini: seems to have a real fire in his belly -am really warming to this guy and going with the opinion that it would be really good if we signed him. Altidore: yes, I know, a couple of not-so-great moments when chances beckoned ...but let's not forget, along with Colback, he was a ****ing nuisance all game and that back heel for the second goal was sublime - ****it, they all had a very good game, Wes and brother John, good shift lads, though I thought Ki didn't have one of his better games, to the point where he was a bit pedestrian/negative at times. As for Bridcutt, he was OK, though I reserve any judgement on the lad until he's played 5/6 games. Did I miss anyone? Mannone was up to the task, Gardner and Larsson offered next to **** all ..again. Gus deserves a mention too, he picked the right team to do the job, so who gets MOTM, him, or Pellegrini? Mainly because I want to avail my posterior to him upon demand and offer him ownership of my children, as well as cooking him the Sunday breakfast of his choice for the rest of one of our live's ... MOTM for me: Magic Johnson!
Interesting fact: Adam Johnson scored more goals in January than the entire Newcastle starting eleven had all season.
From what I saw of the match I think they went with a plan and a system to play to and every man played their part. Manonne didn't have a great deal to do which is testament to or defense. Bridcutt did really well for a lad who hasn't played 1st team football in 3 weeks, just signed yesterday, and has never played in the EPL before let alone a derby game (away). Bardo and Alonso controlled the flanks and were a real threat going forward, I'm loving Alonso mind, he's getting better with each game. Colback had Tiote in his pocket, Johnson was sublime again, Ki is just different class with his vision and passing and Borini's work rate and desire is fantastic. I originally went with Colback but now I can't make my mind up
Oh **** off you idiot Why if cool back isn't his usual **** self does get motm Borini, Johnson, Ki, Bridcutt, altidore, bards, man none and the two centre halfs both had better games I'll go with Borini as he caused so much trouble and worked his arse off!
