I think this season is a freak year . 17th place will be 35 points with a goal differencial of -30, have a guess if you want including GD. I'll bring the thread back up at seasons end to see who got the closest , cheers

I'll say 17th place is 38 points and a -14gd!! I think this will be one of the first years where a massive negative GD will stay up (palace) apart from that it's Cardiff, Fulham and either Sunderland or West ham for me. All 4 are poor in this league.

Takes me back to the time when Cardiff fans took the piss for finishing only 7 points clear of the drop... How precious they realise that 7 points are now!!

It gives some interesting results running the fixtures through a predictor like this http://www.the-mustard.com/predictor.html.

I get 32 points for #17, in a very close league, were Villa are in 10th place on 43, Swansea 11th on 40.

Cardiff (18th), Palace (19th) and Fulham (20th) to drop with the remaining fixtures.
With the remaining fixtures it's either Chelsea or ManC for the title. Whoever wins the match next weekend carries it all the way. Arsenal 3rd and Liverpool 4th.

safety is going to be very low this season by my reckoning...37pts could well be good enough...

Sunderland poor? They've only lost two matches in all competitions since 7 Dec. They have beaten Chelsea, Everton, Man U. Yes, they're really useless.

Cardiff, Fulham and WBA will get my vote.
I do think we will be fine but we do have to roll our sleeves up! Michu's return will be a great boost for the team! He may want to put himself out there for a World Cup place. (A massive long shot I know)

I am with you, I don't think we are "too good to go down" i just feel there are 3 teams worse than us.

I had us down for 4 points after Fulham and West Ham,and we got 3, so performance aside, 1 point less than I had hoped is not all that bad. But if we play that way against Cardiff, we will not win, and will be lucky to get a point, it was the worst performance for some time. The players need to step it up, as that was shocking.
