LEE CATTERMOLE is staying at Sunderland after the Black Cats opted NOT to sell the midfielder to Stoke City, the Echo understands. Sunderland have been in discussions all day over Cattermole, with Stoke upping their offers until they reached around the £5million mark. There had been reports in the Midlands that Sunderland had agreed to sell Cattermole for that figure. But sources close to Sunderland have tonight confirmed that the club have opted to reject Stoke’s advances and the former Middlesbrough midfielder, who has two-and-a-half years to run on his contract at the Stadium of Light, will stay on Wearside. Cattermole will not be involved in tomorrow’s Tyne-Wear due to injury. I for one am delighted he's staying. we have a long way to go to secure our Premiership place and Catts will be needed in that fight. I just hope us offering him out to Stoke dosen't turn his head and feel unwanted, however he's a seasoned professional and will realise it's just football, I hope so anyway, Good on you Catts for staying, get fit quickly and back in the team.
