Got to be a chance that this Saturdays game is gonna be called off. Forecast on top of what we've already has is shocking.
I hope the game does go ahead, can do without another fixture change this season, ie Wolves, Brentford, Stevenage. All Port Vale Match chat will be merged to this thread. Thanks.
I agree with you, brb - and for your sake I hope that the game is not called off. A long period of heavy rain on Friday afternoon and overnight is forecast - 'drying out' about 6am(ish). In view of the aborted mission to Stevenage - and the antics of the few charming Port Vale fans who broke our coach, it would be a certain ironic justice if the game was called off after their fans arrived in sunny Gillingham.
Even better, it gets called off just as they arrive at Priestfield and then their coach breaks down on the M1 and they all have to stand outside in the pouring rain waiting for the recovery coach !! karma
Met office showing heavy rain over night then a dry spell till the afternoon - maybe something in time to wet the away supporters Pitch drains pretty well so I'd guess we will be ok
Really want the game to go ahead, really looking forward to it tomorrow and think it should be a good match
Assuming the game goes ahead tomorrow, I think Gillingham will line up as follows....................... --------------------------Nelson----------------------------------- Hewitt---------Legge-----------------Barrett----------------Martin -------------------------Gregory----------------------------------- Harriman--------------Hessenthaler--------------------------Smith -------------McDonald----------------***an----------------------- Subs: Howard (GK), Davies, Linganzi, Dack, Weston, Akinfenwa, Pigott I thought Amine Linganzi was OK against Brentford but he looked lost and his positional sense was off which might be down to a lack of match fitness and a lack of match sharpness and I think we should drop Amine Linganzi and bring back in Jake Hessenthaler, who has got a decent range of passing and Jake has been improving the more matches he plays for The Gills, OK the pitch was not great at Brentford and perhaps we wanted Amine Linganzi to provide us with some physical presence, but that just did not happen at all last week.. I would also start Connor Smith in Myles Weston's spot because Connor Smith has been waiting patiently for his chance and I think Connor would be able to offer Gillingham more when we don't have possession of the ball and he would give us more defensive capabilities down the left hand side, Myles Weston has been poor when he started the last two games and Myles Weston has shown that he is an impact sub player at best because Myles Weston is not a 90 minute player. I would stick with ***an and McDonald up-front because Craig ***an is playing some fantastic throughballs for Cody to run onto as ***an played through both passes against Brentford on Friday Night, Cody should of scored in the first half but he made up for that miss by scoring in the second half, Akinfenwa seems more effective as a sub rather then starting matches ans the same goes for Bradley Dack as well, both players tend to come on and make a bigger impact in the game compared to when they start matches. Last season in the same fixture we had a 8,000+ crowd, both teams were going for promotion and The League Two Title and Port Vale had Lee Hughes in their side that day as well, neither of us are going for the League One Title this time around, Lee Hughes is no longer at the club and I think the attendance will be over 6,000 because it is kids for a quid tomorrow, but it will defiantly be a subdued atmosphere inside Priestfield Stadium. Hopefully we can keep our impressive home form going with another win and three points tomorrow - COME ON THE GILLS!!!!!!
Today: Drop Barrett, if he's not dropped for this game then i don't know what it takes. Leave Hewitt at right back. Keep Weston on the bench and bring on Connor Smith as suggested by FOM. Hessy in the middle and Dack up front with Cody, unless we are playing it over the top, then Bayo. Would like to get a chance to see the Charlton lad in the 2nd half.
