In yesterday's SUN newspaper football gossip, it said that Charlton want to rescue him from from German club
Eintracht Braunschweig. Apparently he has only made nine appearances this season and has scored no goals.
Who would fancy him back at Priestfield again?

Yeah I would, but there is no chance he would drop down to us at this stage of his career.

There is absolutely no chance of us getting him now but if he were to sign for Charlton then maybe a few years down the line he might make a comeback.

How would we be able to pay the wages of a Bundesliga player!? Dream on.

Looking at his twitter account and photos of his lifestyle out there it seems he is hardly on a BIG money contract.

He will go to a higher div club than us.

But, brb, why the emphatic "no"?
Why wouldn't you want a proven championship, experienced in premiership/bundesliga player here?

I wouldn't want us to keep going back to past gills players, but someone as good as him I'd welcome.

Before he left us, I felt he had lost his touch (if memory serves me correctly). I stated before he left, I felt it was time for him to move on and not just for all the right decisions. I have seen nothing that has changed that view sadly.

17 goals in 82 appearances and none in his last nine, ok at a much higher level but still no.

Cody also came from the Championship and he ain't exactly setting my world on fire at the moment but can probably do just as an effective job...actually I'll take that back...against Wolves he did...94th minute wonder. Currently creating the present rather than the past.

BRB by stating Cody is 'hardly setting the world on fire' are you saying he's underperforing? 10 goals (all from open play) in what is realistically a struggling team is impressive in my eyes, particularly taking into account the fact that he's only really been a regular for a month.

People rave about Kedwell scoring 10 (half of which are pens) yet Cody's 10 aren't good enough?! Are you judging him on his sometime misses? Yes Friday's were terrible, the one at home to Peterborough also springs to mind but there's a reason he's not in the prem, his consistency as i've said before on another thread, has significantly improved this time round.

I for one have been incredibly impressed with Cody's contribution, his work rate is great as well, rather than running round like a headless chicken and not getting anywhere near the ball as Kedwell does, when Cody goes for it against a defender, he often gets it, thus giving us chances. Most of the chances he gets he creates himself, yet people still think Kedwell is our best and most dangerous striker, it's outrageous.

Gills-man-Ant-Dog - In regards to Cody, I say he is not exactly setting my world on fire because I feel he has missed far to many chances, whereas a striker, everyone else does the work for him and he fails on occasions to apply the vital finishing touch. His constant tumbling in the box, worries me in confidence in his own ability.

Although he may get the credit with the Brentford goal, full credit has to go to ***an as you and another have pointed out to me, it was him, that played the fantastic through ball. I hasten to add, unlike (headless chicken) Weston and (rugby tackler) Barrett, I have no issues with Cody and I can see how my comment can be deemed as a bit harsh and probably is.

In regards to Keds, I like him, he would be in my team, however, as a midfielder not a striker. Where he can still continue to take the penalties to his hearts content.

So to a question i ask myself...Cody or Keds...if i want an out and out striker...Cody...if i want an all out workhorse who can still score goals Keds...so room for both in my suggested positions.

I think he has a thing for falling over, last time he did the same thing, perhaps we should chip in and buy him some new boots. Although when running at the pace he does whilst trying to turn must be difficult to stand.

I've heard Keds in midfield mentioed a lot, yet i can't see it working. For me, as much as i like a Gills fan playing for the club, he just doesn't have the quality. He doesn't have the pace of Cody, the touch of Bayo or the foresight of ***an (see Friday's goal) therefore I can't see him in my team. That's not even mentioning that i'd have Dack starting every game therefore either ***an or Bayo would be sitting out each time.

Weston though, i agree, what is wrong with this bloke. He has so much promise but is literally the most frustrating player, he's a winger that can't cross, how can that be?! My thoughts on Barrett i've mentioned today and other days, i don't understand how he is still in our team and played EVERY game when he simply is nowehere near good enough.

I think the problem is with Weston his head his down too much and his brain can't think as quick has his feet can run. Watch him when he's not on the ball, he's not concentrating. Then watch Hessy when he's not on the ball, he knows what's going on all the time. And its that foresight and thinking a head that makes a difference, albeit in different positions.

I don't feel that Weston has the body mass to give him the ability to turn in, so the touchline is like a barrier to him, bring him more into centre. ie ***an should have been on the wing and Weston should have been up front with Cody with more of a free role for Brentford, going on the selection played. The only way it might work for Weston is if Nelson used him as a missile magnet, in the same way Gazza did for Tomlin. At least then it gives Weston a break ahead of his markers, even then i still don't think Weston has the hindsight to pull off such tactics.

As i say watch him when he is not on the ball, he's a daydreamer.

ps. I forgot to add, I'm sure he played in the striker role on one occasion, I think it was under MA...and guess what I'm sure he scored!...but he never got played in that position again huh...I think it might have been before Cody came in...not sure, because i remember saying something about when Cody came back, why do we need him when we have Weston who can fill the role and probably for a lot less cost.

Northampton at home last year, the night of Cody's comedy goal after Matt Fish pinged a ball forward and it bounced over the keepers head.

Weston had been shicking all night on the wing, got put up top and within seconds Nelson hit a goal kick straight to him which he bought down and rifled in the bottom corner! So maybe it is worth trying again, particularly when we are chasing games.

The thing is nowadays that's all i see Weston as, someone to bring on when we need to chase again, as you say, when he has to engage his brain it usually ends up with the other team getting a free attack!

Now,now Gentlemen you have left the the thread and headed off up Tangent Street.

OK,OK so I guess we can't bankrole Simeon at present. Anyhow, if PS has any money left in the war chest,
and we reclaim Lee's salary if he goes, we should be looking for another Simon King type CB to build a team around
    for the long term.

Would I want to see Simeon Jackson back at Gillingham, yes, but do I think Gillingham can afford to sign Simeon Jackson, no.

I also don't see Simeon Jackson coming back to England, he played in The Conference with Rushden & Diamonds, in League Two and League One with Gillingham and The Championship and Premiership with Norwich City,

I think Simeon Jackson will be looking to play in one of European's Lesser Leagues and test himself in Europe, Simeon could move to The Austrian Bundesliga or Danish Superliga.
