I said it at the start of the season. we are stupid to rely on him with no back up despite paying nearly 100k a week to the Fulham pair. now we have to sign someone like rhodes or our season is down the pan. we have 24h to do so, so in a way its happened at the right time. redknapp and beard should hang their heads in shame unless we get a top quality replacement.
Rhodes is not a panic buy, SWP, zamora and Barton were panic buys as they were all worthless despite us wasting 25m on them when no one else would take them on a free. we have a choice, buy someone big and keep our season on course or play the Fulham cripples who will last 3 games and then have no striker for the rest of the season ensuring wed be lucky to make the playoffs
